  • Size my screen

I can find a ton of information on screens and layouts but I'm looking for some guidance on screen size.

I think it will be a Uneekor QED system so I'm going to work from that.

My room size will be 15 feet wide x 21 feet long with a ceiling of 10 feet.

I'd like to use a screen ratio of 16 x 9 so I can also use the system for watching video. Does this work with the software?

With this room do I just go as big as will fit or is there an ideal size based on distance from the screen?

    Is 14 x 8 too big?

I'd love to know about sizing from those who have actually used a system.

"My screen is too big" is not a comment I have seen on tis forum! Seriously though, with walls at 15 feet, 14 is about as large as you could go. I might suggest a 16:10 aspect which would buy you another almost foot of displayed picture with a 14 foot width. Force 16:9 for movies but use the extra height for golf. You could also mess around with custom resolutions but they are a bit hit and miss - some love them others do not.

Thanks for the input. I just asked about too big because I know TV experts will tell you not to get too big a screen for your distance from it. They say that having the view too big actually takes away from the experience. I thought something like that may apply here.

Okay. A friend just pointed this out: https://www.projectorcentral.com/pro...r&entry_id=784

They say 10" to 12" of diagonal for each foot of distance from the screen is ideal. That would put me at 144 inch diagonal. That would only be 10 1/2 by 6. More thinking needed on this.

14x8 is fine. I would build the enclosure a bit taller than 8 feet though. Go ahead and build it as high as you can so you don't run into issues with wedging balls into the crossbar (or over it entirely). If you only go 8-9 feet high you'll have to hit from closer and also may run into issues with the crossbar blocking your image from the projector. As noted above, 16:10 buys you a little bit more vertical image, although 16:10 projector selection is quite thin compared to 16:9.
