Hi Everyone,
I’ve been a long time lurker on these forums and used a lot of the information from here to help me complete my first build. Thanks to everyone for all the useful information.
A little bit about the space. 10ft wide by 10ft high, and a length of about 15ft. There is a window on the wall of the hitting area, so protection of that has been paramount.
The floor was padded out with 1inch think interlocking floor tiles, then being overlaid with cheap artificial turf.
10ft lengths of EMT were sprayed Matt black, and connected using the Amazon corner joints.
The hitting screen is white archery baffle with heavy black curtains behind it. Between these in the main hitting area is a small kids foam mattress from IKEA, covered in a spare black curtain to maintain the contrast across the screen. Behind the screens a good foot of space, then there are 2 layers of 2mx2m of the interlocking floor tiles protecting the window. A single piece of 1m of the floor tile has been used behind the curtain in prime shank zone.
the screen has been attached to the frame using a combination of cable ties, tarp clips and ball bungees.
The hitting mat is by forb, it was the only one I could find reasonable shipping overseas on.
The projector is a benq th671st set to 4:3 ratio. It is mounted to the rear rail of the frame. So is 10ft back from the screen and ten foot high.
For the sim - gc quad and tgc 2019. Works a charm. The PC is an old i7 3770 office PC upgraded over the years to include a 2060super card. No issues with performance at all.
So far everything is great! I need to reattach the tarp clubs under the impact zone every couple of days as they begin to slide out. The impact noise is a loud but dull thud, and bounce back is great until it’s hit low in the screen... even then it’s still not scary.
next steps are to tidy up the wires, add some protection to the frame (sand bags at the base and pool noodles up the sides.
Pics to follow shortly!
Any feedback or questions are appreciated!
