  • Detached Garage Conversion

    Hi everyone -

I appreciate the information and guidance on this forum. Just started the construction and renovation on the project. First, we moved the stairs from the back of the garage to the side so I could use the back wall for the enclosure & screen. The next step is they are raising the ceiling height from 9'3'' to 9'10''. I could swing all of my clubs, but did this just to be safe. The garage door is being replaced with carriage doors that open outward. Two Split HVAC units are being installed, one up and one down. Bourbon/Whiskey lounge/speakeasy is going upstairs... Here is the gear:

    - UNEEKOR EYE XO

    - Carl's Pro Enclosure and Pro Impact screen. Enclosure dimensions: 15.5 feet wide, 9 feet 8 inches high and 5 feet deep.

    - BenQ 4K laser Projector. LK953ST

    - PC. i9, 32GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090. (Overkill, but wanted to be as future proof as possible).

    - Tee line turf and shock pad. This is what is used by FullSwing in their installs

    - Starting with E6, may add TGC 2019 at some point.

Some of the pics are blurry since they are screen grabs from a video I took before they started the renovations. I will keep this updated as it moves forward.

Looks good. I like the items you have selected too. What is the shock pad? Is that sold by Tee line and separate from the Tee Line mat?

To be honest, I have no idea. I am trusting my installer on the turf. I assumed it goes under the turf. I will follow up once it is in so we can all see what it is!

        Update :

1.)The steps were moved from the back wall where the enclosure/screen is going.
2.) The ceiling has been raised.
        3.) Lighting is placed
4.) The plumbing lines are all in. 1/2 bath upstairs,
5.) Beverage fridge (GE Monogram) & Ice Maker (GE Monogram) upstairs with a built-in beverage fridge (GE Monogram) down in the SIM room as well.
6.) HVAC lines are in and the mini-splits are located. One split upstairs and one split downstairs.
        7.) Insulation done

        Gear updates:

        1.) Acer T272HUL - 27'' touch screen for SIM
2.) 75'' Samsung Frame TV for Downstairs. Will go above the touch screen.
        3.) 5.1 Audio. Origin Acoustics in-ceiling.

Drywall to begin today or tomorrow.

The room is coming along. Yesterday, we assembled the Carl's Pro enclosure. Very sturdy and heavy. We hit a couple of balls into it yesterday and it seems that there is quite a bit of bounce back. If anyone has suggestions, I would love to hear them. We did not want to hit too many as the turf was not down yet, which obviously sent the balls flying off the concrete floor.

Someone asked about the shock pad. Photos attached. This goes under the turf.

Shock Pad, Turf and Tee go into tomorrow. Launch monitor, projector, and hopefully all A/V equipment Friday.

Looking great! The shock pad will definitely help with bounces off the floor.. I had the same issues with my new Carl's enclosure. I removed all of the bungees on the bottom of the screen and all but 4 on each side and that helped a lot. I still get too much bounce back from the wedges. The next thing I'm going to try is to cut the EMT pipe slightly and leave some slack on the black vinyl.

Thank you for that information. I will try once the turf goes in today to remove some of the bungees. I also read that some people have added memory foam behind the screen. I will report back once I get to hit some balls.

Removed half of the bungees from the side and bottom. Fixed all concerns about bounce back!

Looks great. What pipe did you use. Carl's site talks about both 2" EMT and Schedule 40 aluminum pipe for their pro series.

I honestly have no idea. How could I check? I just ordered the kit and used what they sent.

                        Update:

EYEXO is in, 5.1 Surround in, HVAC in. 75'' Frame TV is up as is the 27'' Acer touch screen for the SIM control. Still a ways to go for completion, but so nice to see progress!
