Cage Frame Question

I had a 1" EMT 10 x 10 x10 cage that I built a domed roof on and today we got some really heavy rain and it caused the cage to collapse and about 8 pieces of the EMT are bent and unusable. So I'm looking it to rebuild it stronger and better, and I've seen people use fence post but that would require me to buy all new fittings so I had an idea to use 1" galvanized pipe instead, does anyone think that sounds like a terrible idea, or would it work?

Could you use netting on the top so the rain could just pass through?!? Harbor freight sells it pretty cheap..

I initially tried EMT but wife said it was an eye sore so I used 4x4x12 pressure treated lumber.

I dug the ones where my screen is about 3 feet deep so it's at a height of 9 feet. On the side where I hit from I anchored them to the ground and put them in a flower pot that I filled with cement.

I connected the 4 parts with 2x4 except where the screen goes. Wife said it had to be able to be cleaned up so I have curtains that I run across the 2x4s and put up a rod and open them for side protection.

Could you post a few pics? That might help to get a better idea of what you're working with...although I'm picturing some overkill (not necessarily bad)..
