  • Sketching out simulator build

So I've been lurking for a few weeks as I put together a rough sketch of what my simulator area will look like. Tons of super useful information in the forum. This is a new space we'll be building above our garage so I have some flexibility (but not much) while we're in the design phase. Below is my amateur hour attempt at an Excel drawing of the space...each square is 1 ft wide x 1 ft deep, and the thick black lines represent walls. Ceiling will be 10 feet high. As you can see the space opens up a bit in the hitting area. I've also added my attempt at a rough budget. A few questions I'm hoping for some advice on from the big brains here:

    1. A very dumb question, but does having the projector directly over the hitting area mean basically zero risk of hitting it with a club?
    2. Am I thinking about the RH/LH hitting area correctly, that I can take advantage of the full 1.5 ft wide hitting zone for the QED to allow RH and LH players to hit from the center or something close to it?
    3. Am I missing anything else?

Very well thought out layout and you definitely picked some high end components. Mounting the projector over ball pretty much eliminates any chance of hitting it. The only thing I would change is the hieght of the enclosure to 9 ft or even 10. If you do a 12 ft wide image, then you want a 9 ft high screen to have a perfect 4:3 ratio. Checkout our Proseries and DIY enclosures. Both come with premium padded screen. Plus 10% off. If you are going to spend that much money, you might as well get a premium enclosure.

      thx

Since the BenQ935 is a 16:10 ratio (1920x1200) projector, the screen that ryanmcd73 chose looks like a pretty good fit. Should be able to use all 2.3 million pixels with a 11.5x7.2 ft image.
    Working...
