New Build Results - Uneekor EyeXO and Putting Platform

Wanted to share my first build for our new house, as well as a big thank you to all who contribute to this site, as I've lurked here for quite awhile while determining all the components, specs, and "isms" that I was likely to deal with while building my first sim. Overall, not too many hiccups (if any), and I'm extremely happy with the results!

Enclosure: Carl's Place 9x12x5
Software: TGC2019 / View
Projector: Optoma GT1080HDR
Cameras: Spinel Electronics
Laptop: Alienware M15R4 (w 3070 graphics)
Mats: Fibrebuilt
Turf/Landing Mat: SGC ProPutt Grey
Sound: Bose Soundbar
Displays: 24" ASUS ProArt / Samsung 42" TV / Laptop Screen
Garage Space: 28' x 13' x 12'

Putting Platform is 11.5' x 5' and was made from 8020 stock, baltic birch top, Truline Green Turf. Ball return was homemade, and the 4x scissor jacks in the corners are used to raise/lower/create break on the green.

Just added a dimming 6-head track light between the sim/putt area to provide better lighting control over the on/off fluorescent lights across the entire garage. The last thing I need to finish is the OSB sheets over the last 1/3 of the garage to be in-line with the rest of the bay. Once thats up, I can hang the putter racks and other swag to complete the room.

Again, huge thanks to everyone that answered my questions on here, and through other forums. Overall, very happy with how this has turned out, and my 3.5yr old is already out playing some of the Par3 courses with me daily!

Very nice! Thank you for sharing! Are you happy with TGC? I have the EYEXO as well but went with E6 and thinking about adding TGC as well.

Very happy with the course selection and graphics on TGC. I wish there were some better practice options (I haven’t tried refine or succeed yet). But would like some better target-type options.

I’m just using that if I’m doing a range session and don’t want to wear out the screen as quickly.

The laptop is handling everything very well, and has no problems displaying 4 screens simultaneously. I’m not a computer guy, and not familiar with gaming laptops, but it does feel hot to the touch, although the systems says it’s only running the CPU and GPU at 70 and 50 degrees respectively. Not sure if that’s normal, not, or cool…but seems to be holding up well.

I plan to use it for photo editing when my current MBP craps out

I have had that same thought about a net in front of screen for practice only. From the angle of your photo, it would seem the ball would push the black net into the screen. Does this happen, or is there a gap between the net and the screen?

And how are you connecting it to each side? Is there bounceback?

Nice setup and a great result for obviously a lot of hard work.

There is about 1-2ft between the net and the screen. The net likely touches the screen since it’s not anchored at the bottom, but I’ve never paid attention to it. Just enough the take some speed (and hopefully spin) off the ball, and I’ll use some ‘more used’ balls without worrying about tearing up the screen with worn balls.

It’s attached in the top two corners with carabiners and paracord to the enclosure frame. Less bounce back that just a screen since it wraps around the ball.

The net is from the GoSports setup on Amazon. Not a great screen as I’d already put a few holes in it from backyard use, and still manage to make more holes with it free-hanging in the sim. Better than nothing, but not a great net.

Great idea on the practice net. I'm just designing my space now. I'm debating between buying the Carl's Pro enclosure kit and building my own system with fabric. Are you happy with the quality of the enclosure?

I had thought it'd be cheaper to build my own enclosure (using friends who are parachute riggers and manufacture hot-air balloons) but in the end, the hassle and trying to explain exactly what I wanted was going to be more work than going with the Carl's enclosure. In addition, the enclosure was part of their EyeXO DIY kit, so I was getting the software or enclosure for essentially free (compared to buying everything individually).

I have no experience with other enclosures, their purchase processes, or how they wear over the long term. Overall, I am happy with the quality of the Carl's enclorsure (~1000-1500 shots so far).
