Hi All - I’ve had my Home Depot cheap green rug for 4 years now and it’s time for a change. I know this has been covered in the past but looking for any recent recommendations. I currently use a fiberbuilt hitting strip in a platform I had created and it works well. I’ll be removing the platform and instead using 1” Eva foam matting for the carpet base in the hopes of gaining 2” more ceiling height(only have 8’9” currently). Looking to install a 12’x12’ putting quality carpet that we can both be a stance mat and putting mat. Thinking I’ll need a putting turf with a foam backing to get from the 1” foam up closer to the height of the fiberbuilt mat. What quality surfaces are out there these days and where can I get them in the USA easily? Do we like the STI Pro Putt? Is that the same as NP50? Thanks in advance for any help or comments you can provide.

That’s my problem. I had bought some good putting turf like 12 years ago but don’t remember the name. Thinking it will be worth it to do the whole floor in a good turf. Still in need of recommended turfs and places to purchase them!!!

go check out Turf Factory Direct. Great options. I went with the 5mm nylon batting cage so I could insert my divot action. I had to build a platform but very pleased with the results.

That looks about perfect for what I want to try to do. When you say you had to build a platform, is that just to accommodate the depth of the hitting strip?
I'm looking for something like this that will work as a stance mat, will keep balls from flying everywhere coming off the screen, and is puttable "enough" to give the right feel for a sim. Not looking to use it for putting practice or anything like that.

Two reasons I built the platform. The first is my sim is in my garage so there is a slope. Otherwise I am hitting a little up so I wanted it leveled out. Then I used 2 plywood sheets on tope of the framing. Cut one level out to fit the hitting strip so everything was flush. Part of my thinking was watching people trying to get a ball up on the strip before I had everything flush was a pain. Figured by making it flush the overall experience was much better. Some folks stood further away on the mat so my 5x5 wasn't working. Why I tossed the mat, bought TFD and went that route. Good Luck

I just installed the Turf Factory Direct Putting Elite turf and I am very impressed with it. It rolls very true and is pretty quick, but also very realistic. Very satisfied! The only downfall is it took 2 months to be delivered, probably because of inventory issues and Covid delays.
