What kind of golf balls are you all using? Any suggestions of where to buy in bulk?

Also interested in this as well. I was going to stock up on Kirkland balls given the price/performance ratio. I don't think a ProV1 lasts 4x as long given the price difference or could be bought in bulk at a price low enough to close the price/performance gap.

I like the Srixon Zstar balls because they spin just as good as any other premium ball, a bit cheaper at $42/dozen and the cover has held up the best with all the abuse in the sim, so I think they're a great value. I've found some good deals on them as well. Walmart had a dozen of last years model for $25. Dick's had a deal, buy 2 get 1 free. That's all I've done to get decent deals on balls, just look for any sales if you're at the store.

Other balls I've tried; Kirkland, Prov1 & Prov1x, Vice Pro, & Chromesoft Truvis and Triple Track. I don't recommend Truvis with Eyexo as I got more misreads with those. The Kirkland covers tear up the fastest. When the covers get ripped up a bit, I toss them in a bucket and then use for outside golf.

Wouldn't this depend on the sim you are using and the purpose? Personally I buy the Prov1x Practice balls. I have GC2 and I want the accurate numbers. Since you really can't or (shouldn't lose) a ball in the sim, one ball last longer. As soon as it starts to show too much wear (label fade) is when I pitch and grab a new ball. I keep other premium balls on hand for friends that don't play the X. I get if you think this is like going to the range and hitting crap balls to warm up versus practice and getting results.

some screen manufacturers recommend certain balls i.e. Par2pro suggest srixon and not prov1 as they shorten the life of the screen

            Can't go wrong with Zstars.

Might be over now, but last week Golftown had z-stars for Cdn$30 a dozen.

Get whatever type you like from places like Lostgolfballs.com. If you get the 5a/mint sort you will spend a lot less with no loss of performance.or longevity.

I’ve used the sim to test out different balls. What ones give me the most consistency, distance, spin. I have not found a callaway I like. Live the bridgestones and taylormades. Did not like the Srixons as much. I found slightly less distance and spin for me. I’m sure each will respond different for different people.

Low spin balls are theoretically best for screen wear. I use Calloway Supersoft. However, if you have a high swing speed (over 95 mph) you probably want a high spin ball and just replace the screen more often. I’d say use whatever you want to use on the course.

BTW, I tested out spin and distance with various balls. Supersoft was consistently 2k or so less RPM than Pro V1 with a corresponding increase in distance of a few yards. Chromesoft had a bit less spin but still much more than Supersoft.

Good insight all! Sounds like buying premium balls in bulk isn’t really an option so I’ll keep just chewing through my pack a week habit!!
