Advice on simulator choice please

So 3 years after my first foray into the world of golf simulators was thwarted by overly officious authorities, I finally have planning permission to construct an outbuilding that will house a golf simulator and home gym.

external dimensions are 5m W x 9m L x 3.5m H. I’ve been told that internally it will be 30cm less in each dimension which will hopefully be big enough to hit from the centre of the screen.

I was originally thinking of going with Foresight but have been charmed by Trackman’s slick software and now Uneekor has entered the mix too.

My thinking is that all 3 below are accurate enough and provide plenty of good club and ball data

GC Quad
Pros: FSX Pro seems good, E6 compatibility, games for kids
Cons: stickers on clubs, bad reputation for customer service, placed on ground near club path - kids will shank the ball into it,

Trackman
Pros: software is very good. No jumping around different applications. Can be placed out the way behind us when playing. Virtual Golf 2 looks more realistic to me than E6 but I would appreciate input as to whether that’s right. Also heard great things about customer support.
cons: expensive. Can’t leave in place

uneekor eye xo
Pros: software seems to be improving all the time. Mounted out the way. Options for various sim software
cons: club stickers. Will need different software apps for practice and play. TGC seems to be the most realistic sim option but at the same time 100k courses sounds like a negative to me rather than a positive?

so far still leaning to trackman but am definitely open to input. I’m in UK so not all the other options are open to me but I know that HD Golf have a presence here if I should be exploring that too?

All 3 are top of the line. You have to decide wether you want an overhead camera setup ( more permanent and out of the way ) or a portable launch monitor. If you have kids,the uneekor might be the way to go. TGC is great software . great graphics, unlimited courses, online gameplay. no subscriptions. Plus you wont have to buy any more courses. To answer one of your questions, Virtual golf is much better than e6.

some things to consider is that TMs annual software fee will essentially work out to the same as the yearly subscription price of e6.

All units you described are great, if you want something that is portable, then Uneekor should be removed from your list and if you want portable and full outdoor flight tracking, then TM will require the purchase of the outdoor licence.

currently, TM does require the addition of a metallic dot to the golf ball. Also, the new indoor ball flight firmware upgrade has yet to be released.

For the QUAD, it is a pretty robust unit that will take the odd hit. My concern with kids were this plus them tripping on it or kicking it while they horse around ( they do this often in the sim). The TM can be protected with a covering at the back of the room.

I am obviously biased to TM and their software, but each unit you listed is great. Also the new Foresight/Bushnell unit is something else to consider (just likely won’t have anything near the club data that the others offer.

Foresight has said that they will release a new software version this year. Given the prices they charge for software, I suspect that they will get it right. My concern is every developer in the golf sim industry seems to get the timing of their next release wrong.

Keep in mind E6 is a nightmare with a GC quad or GC2. I had it and after 6 months and weekly phone calls Foresight refunded my money. Having said that the customer service from Foresight was outstanding as they responded to my calls/texts 7 days a week in short order.

Thanks that’s interesting - most stories I’ve read have been saying that foresight’s customer service has not been great. Glad you had a good experience although sorry to hear you had trouble with the Quad and e6.

Just my experience only. I have EYE XO and a GCquad. The quad is portable which I need because I teach some. The EYEXO is important because it is mounted and out of the way as I have 3 kids. When I hit at home I always run both units and they both read super close in all ball data. Club data is a little different due to the fact that each unit requires their own stickers for the club so data is slightly off if you compare units on same shot. As for Trackman, I took my Quad down to my neighbors house and compared TM4 and Quad last week indoors only. I will say that the TM must have the stickers on ball to read appropriately and ball data was very similar after applying stickers to ball. Now for club data was very different in the two units which concerned me. I found a video on youtube that explained how this can happen indoors with the TM but I fully don't understand why all my readings showed different club data between units. For me I like all the units and honestly would like a trackman for outdoor use but indoor I don't think it is the best from my experience on club data side.

EyeXO is the best for the money Hands down. This unit is very accurate when compared to Quad with is trusted by many tour players. Uneekor has great customer service, and has great cameras for club path and club face visuals. I also bought the hispeed cameras for the unit to film swing which is awesome as well. EyeXo integrates well with all 3rd party software that I have tried.

Quad is the most consistent and versatile both for indoor and outdoor use. It seems to never miss a beat and is built strong. Does not work well with 3rd party software from what I read. Customer service is good when you call in but emails seem to go unanswered.

TM4 operates best outdoors and has some awesome software that makes it very attractive for me. I will say Trackman is lowest on my list but I don't have much experience with it either. I would like to keep testing the unit to get a clearer opinion on it. I am in talks with a TM rep to come and do a comparison in near future. I hear TM has awesome customer service.

Thanks all again. I have to say I’m leaning towards the Uneekor now based on feedback here and online research My one hesitation remains the ease of use of software. I really like how trackman has one software product that you use for practice and play and from what I can see online, the simulation aesthetics are the most appealing.

If I do go with Uneekor I’m pretty sure I will go with E6 as it feels like the slickest software option even if the graphics are maybe not quite up there with TGC according to those who use both. I am not overly technically minded and the thought of 100k courses scares the hell out of me. A curated list of 50 - 100 sounds more appealing for sure.

I would go with TGC over E6. E6 has a yearly subscription fee. TGC doesnt. With TGC you can add courses to your favorites so its not too overwelming once you find a bunch of courses you like.

I see the appeal of both TGC19 and E6. I find myself playing E6 more with the online play feature and the new PinSeeker app. E6 is more vibrant but the details are not as good around bunkers/Greens/fairway lines as TGC19.

So I went to see everything today and will definitely be going with the eye xo. I do still think the trackman has a slight edge in software and the quality of the sim courses, but actually feel that for me the eye xo will work better as it can be hard wired in place and out of the way and actually jumping from app to app isn’t as complicated as I feared. Price actually doesn’t really come into the equation as being in the UK there isn’t that much difference.

I was in the same boat. I went with the EYEXO over all others. So far, I love it and it set me way under what I was anticipating spending.
