  • New build in framing stage - advice needed

I am in the framing stage of a new house and have a nice space above the garage for a simulator. Got a a few questions I need advice on. My space has a cathedral shaped roof line and is approx 13’ high at the flat part.

Would I be better off lowering the ceiling to make it easier to install a ceiling mounted projector or leave as is before they drywall? If so what would be optimum height to make the ceiling. I’m struggling to figure out how low I need to install the projector to avoid hitting it and also not have an issue with the top of the cage blocking the source. I am open to building a custom cage if that helps.

I have two options for screen size. The largest I can get is a 14’x8’ which would give me 16:9 or I could change to a 12’x9’ but then I am 4:3. Which option. Is best for both a simulator and media room for live sports, movies and gaming combination?

I have not bought any hardware yet but looking at a Skytrack system. Any suggestions on projector would also be greatly appreciated.

    thanks in advance.

sloped ceilings are always a little tricky. The easiest route is to run a horizontal board across the celing to mount projector. Get me the attached dimensions and I will get you some enclosure ideas

    You want the largest screen possible 14 x 8 or 12 x 9 would work. I assume a 14 x 9 screen would not fit?

Do you want RH only or both?

hiw deep do you want the sides/top?

    thx

My overall room will be 16’ wide but that’s only 7’ high. Based on the roof angle at 9’ high the widest a screen can be is 12”. Right handed golfer only needed. I’m at stage in framing I can easily lower season if it works better. Does the projector usually go behind or in front of the golfer?

let me look at this and get you a layout tomorrow. projector typically goes behind golfer. Also can be directly over ball

        What is "A" dimension ?

        If its right hand only , I would go 12 x 9 versus 14 x 8

        thx

A is about 4’ but like I mentioned I can lower the ceiling and make A wider. My thought was to lower ceiling down to about 11’ which would make A about 8’.
