    Please help! Loud Impact Screen

    Hello!

I recently build an impact frame with EMT and bought a impact screen from Amazon. The seller claimed the screen is made by 100% heavy-duty polyester with reinforced edges with grommets installed that can take 250mph golf ball. However, when the ball was impacting the screen, it was quite loud like a drum playing next to my ears.

My simulation room is 10x10x10, but the ball position is only about 7' away from screen. I have tried loosing tension, removing several bungees, put up a backing support netting/pad but none of them help. I would like to give it a shot and buy a quiet impact screen before switching back to the net. Is there a quiet impact screen on market? I am living in a townhouse so the noise is a big issue for me.

    Many thanks!

For me, driver hitting ball is louder than ball hitting screen. Are you suggesting the ball hit screen impact is louder?

Every golf screen material has a different noise and sound level at impact. If the material is real stiff and dosent have a lot of stretch to it, its probably going to be louder

Thequietest material is going to be the padded poly spacer material. Hanging a pad behind will help as well as well

      I will send you link

What size screen do you have?

      thx

No doubt, the driver is louder but almost the same as the impact screen noise. When I hit iron/fairway wood/hybird, the screen noise is much louder. I was shocked several times, lol.

My original impact screen was very loud. The kids two rooms away from the simulator could hear. I upgraded to Chip's (@golfsimulatorsite) Poly Spacer screen a few weeks ago and it has made a huge difference. No more complaints from the kids. I still have the sound of the ball hitting the club head, but the impact sound is dramatically reduced... like 90% or more.

In short, the polyspacer is a game changer, it is priced very aggressively, super quiet, and Chip is great. You can't go wrong. Let me know if you want me to send some pictures.

I plan on hanging some moving blankets halfway back from my screen to the wall. I used to be a drummer. I would deaden the sound by putting blankets inside the drum. It deadens the reverberation.

How do you get in touch with Chips poly spacer? I have net setup in my garage that is nice and quiet. I bought a white tarp to project onto it with net behind and that thing was so loud when the ball hit it. I am looking some thing cheap that you can project on and place in front or behind white golf net.

              Thanks
