  • Has anyone put speakers in?

So I will have side netting 6" from the wall and am wondering about putting speakers in just in case I want to put a movie on the big screen. Has anyone put speakers in and, if so, where did you place them. My entire wall except for 6" either side will be screen or netting out to 7'.

I'm thinking of mounting slim speakers about 4 feet from the screen and putting a sturdy wire mesh over them. They will show a bulge in the netting but this might not look too bad.

Looking for input from those who have already done sound too.

I bought a used Bose Acoustimass system for $150. Very small footprint for stereo surrounds. For a cheapish used set I'm not that worried about shanking one and smashing the front L/R dead on. They're very small. Center sounds fine behind the screen (Carl's) believe it or not.

I was considering the same and thinking of angled recessed ceiling speakers. I used them in a friends home theater and they sound great. But have not completed it yet. I ran wires when building room but never installed the speakers.

Im currently building a garage for my golf simulator and installing a Dolby ATMOS 9.2 channel surround system. I just ordered some acoustically transparent fabric that I’m going to somehow curtain in front of my Center channel that will be above my impact screen and curtain the front mains that will be on the sides of the impact screen. I’ll update once I’ve completed in the next 4-5 weeks.

I would love to see pics of how you curtain and protect all those speakers!

Wow, I run ATMOS 9.2 in my Home Theater, but will not consider it in the simulator as there would be too many speakers to protect - and for little value, so, maybe you're planning on running a home theater in your golf sim when it's not being used as a simulator?

I’m just planning on curtaining the Center and R/L Mains. I didn’t think I’d have to protect speakers that are behind the ball striker. Am I missing something???

And yes I plan on using the garage as a movie theatre as well.

Yeah, you're probably fine with surround speakers on side and behind... but that still leaves FLH (front left height) and FRH (front right height) speakers in a 9.2 arrangement, and placement of a subwoofer somewhere... I could see that might be cool, do you have a design pic of where you're placing them? Pics would be neat too... I wouldn't mind adding surround sound in there myself - but cannot convince anyone in my family to go out there and watch anything - so it will be my own 'man-cave' hahahaha - listening room for audio maybe.

I mounted a sound bar below the projector on the back wall, sound great when watching movies as your sat below it.

Android TV Box at the side conected to the Internet with wifi, sound output to the sound bar via optical cable.

Brettster, we are just completing the shell. I’ll supply pictures once the install is done.
