  • build in pole barn

I have a pole barn, cement floors, metal walls, 4 car stalls with a man cave section that is 30' x 25'. I am wanting to build a simulator out here, BUT, have some questions.
have done alot of research and am leaning on skytrack so that I can use an Ipad and stream to TV
Live in Indiana, so the weather in the winter will get cold. below freezing normally for a month or two,
barn is not insulated inside... have 12'ft ceiling heights so not concerned about that. T
Thinking of just utilizing an ipad and running HDMI to 65"tv that is already hung in barn so as to not subject a projector to all the harsh conditions.
heard that extreme cold could possibly effect simulator screen, so thinking of just using the hitting net with protection behind it.
need a very good hitting mat... possibly gunghogolf holy grail mat or fiberbuilt to avoid any stress or shock injuries to elbows.
wondering about the effect of hitting clubs in above stated conditions. It is not going to be possible to insulate the barn, so the cold temp is a def reality. Will this be damaging to clubs or balls?
Def am wanting to do this so that I can keep swinging thru the winter. I have an 8' outside patio propane heater to use in the vicinity of where I will be hitting, but def not going to warm the barn or the area up much at all.. any thoughts or ideas are appreciated.

I had the same dilemma. My pole barn has 14' ceilings. I decided to frame in an area for the simulator. I went with a 16' wide by 25' long room and added a ceiling of 10' 6" just to save on heating and future cooling cost. I now have a little storage area above for anything I can easily get up there. Doing it all by myself proves to be a very slow process. I am at the point where everything in framed, wired and insulated. I have drywall bought, but may just start the screen build and projector mounting and leave the rest as is, so I can get golfing and do the finishing touches this fall or a little at a time over winter

I am currently heating it with a 5 KW heater that I had already, but I do have the pex for radiant in-floor heat in the concrete for whenever I can afford to install the boiler and components. I may have to check how safe/unsafe those patio heaters would be in my space as I have two of these I put in storage over the Winter (I'm in Minnesota). If I were to use them I would definitely get a Co2 detector for the room.

I went with the Mevo+ because I have a left handed Son. So I will use a least 16' feet (front to back) for the setup, but hope to maybe get 10' to12' from ball to screen for better performance. I will use an iPad and my screen is 8' high and 10.5 wide (premium Impact screen from Carl's Place). Maybe upgrade to a larger screen in the future if I feel it would be worth it. I put 3 recessed can lights (dimmable) in the back of the room where people will sit and 4 more recessed lights above the hitting and screen area that will only be on when not using the simulator. I wired in ceiling receptacles for projector and switched receptacles for the pin spot light for ease of turning on and off. Needless to say, It has been a lot of work doing this all by myself but hope it will all be worth it in the end.
