  • Garage Sim build, Questions for stabilizing golf hitting mat

I have had my golf simulator for 3 years, it is in my garage and moveable so we can park our cars. I threw it together fast because it was a temporary setup and to make sure that I would use it. well I use and and love it, the problem I am running into is my CCE golf mat would move slightly and I would readjust after several swings (Below is a list of things i have tried). I recently rebuilt the golf simulator to make everything square and perpendicular now all that is left is the CCE golf mat. below is my check of things that i am looking for.
    • I want something that will stabilizing the mat and stop it from moving.
    • I want to be able to put it in the same spot every single time with out measuring.
    • i want it to be easily picked up and movable so we can park our cars in the garage.
    • I would prefer not to drill holes in my concrete floor
any suggestion would be greatly appreciate it

Things I have tried so far

I am in the same situation, interested to see suggestions. I have only been up and running for a week, but have already noticed small grayish circles appearing on my screen. Do you experience that since you still use your space as a garage as well?

I built my enclosure based on Gung-ho Golf’s specifications so it stays up. Between my stance mat and screen are exercise mats. I assume the gray spots are the accumulation of dirt from the garage on the balls.

Hi, I had the same challenges. I decided to make my own stance mats and hitting strip. For the stance mats, I used a thick 3/4 inch rubber mat onto which I glued my CCE mat. The CCE mat I used only had the carpet and backing (no foam). I used Roberts 6700 carpet glue to join them together. The rubber is thick enough to screw in some handles so it can be move around easily. Once laminated, each stance mat weighs about 40 lbs. They are not moving at all. I used the same principle for the hitting strip but added soft foam between the hard rubber mat and the turf.

For the placement, I used a Sharpie to mark the 4 corners of the hitting strip on the floor. I position the hitting strip first. Then I place the stance mats each side of the hitting strip and squeeze it with the stance mats. Nothing moves.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your input. you actually gave me another an idea from looking at your pictures. going off your idea of the building a stance mat, then i would get enough outdoor carpet to place on the floor. cut a hole where the hitting mat goes and then i wouldn't have to worry about if it is lined up correctly or not. as long as the carpet is in the same spot.

I have a 5' x 5' turf mat similar to CCE and I had the same issue with the mat shifting against my concrete floor.
I ended up getting this 70lb base and it solved my issue. Maybe you can find one similar for cheap locally.
