  • Ideal flooring and wall/ceiling setup

Hey guys- I am planning a dedicated simulator room build and looking for some input on the ideal walls and flooring when nothing is existing. Since the room is dedicated, I am thinking osb wall panels with stapled carpeting from the screen to about 5-6 feet out for both walls and ceiling. Any recommendations on cost effective carpeting to use? Should I install Carpet padding underneath for added absorbtion?

On the flooring, my biggest question is if I should build a stance mat/hitting Mat into the flooring and cover the rest of the area with a putting turf or should I just install the entire area with putting turf over eva or stall mats and then cut in a hitting area but use the large turf as stance. I guess a third option would be to just cover the entire room in eztee hybrid which would function as putting, stance, and hitting all in one turf.
    appreciate any thoughts on this

Hi Pattycakes , I can share what i am doing with my simulator that I am in the process of building right now , whether that is something for you or not is up to you.
I am using osb 1/2 inch board, 3 inch foam and black vinyl from hobby lobby to make padded wall and ceiling panels , each is 24 inch wide , the wall panels are 32 " and ceiling 58" long. They are attached with Beau clips which you can find on Amazon. Large panels cost about 30$ each for parts (labor is free ) the smaller panels come out to about 25$ each. (6 large and 12 small total)
For the floor i will use the 1.5 inch Meister floor mats with putting turf laid over the top. I will start with that and may move to dedicated hitting mat later on which I would cut into the mats so its level with the surroundings. I have the materials to make a divot action hitting strip which i intend to inlay.

Plenty of good ideas out there , I found most ideas here in one thread or another and adapted as necessary to what fit for me.

Keep us posted as you go.

That looks really nice I think I am between doing something similar and doing a thick carpet pad underneath a darker colored carpet and crown stapling to the osb. I noticed your other thread about the ramp to screen and planning to follow your lead with that too… the ramp will begin before the screen and then go all the way to rear wall with the screen hanging somewhere in the middle correct? Thanks for the tips

No i plan to have the ramp go to the screen and the screen to hang down behind the ramp, I have had my wife sew a sleeve on the bottom of the screen so i can hang it with a 3/4 inch pvc which will go then down behind the ramp. you can see it in this pic the best
