Hi there - I know there is a lot of options but is there a consensus on where to get the most affordable and decent1" foam mat to put under turf? I am looking to cover about 12'x14' and don't want to spend too much money! (Loving my simulator but it sure is a money pit!)

Just bought these off Amazon but at the time they were discounted to $74.99 for 72 square feet, I was psyched to see the sale because like you said these can get kind of steep. Keep your eyes out for another sale, there are a ton of these foam brands. Check the price on the different colors too, they're different prices and it doesn't matter for our application.

hardrain - I hear you! Prices are through the roof on almost anything i put in my Sim...
Here are 2 brands of good foam to consider for underneath your turf... I went with the cheaper option, I think the 1/2" work just fine, but some prefer the 3/4" - you can pick the thicker ones from this link:
Here's a heavy duty Equipment mat I went with in an area (under the door) where I only wanted 1/4:
Amazon.com : Supermats Heavy Duty Equipment Mat 13GS Made in U.S.A. for Indoor Cycles Recumbent Bikes Upright Exercise Bikes and Steppers (2.5 Feet x 5 Feet) (30-Inch x 60-Inch) (76.2 cm x 152.4 cm) , Black : Floor Mat For Exercise Equipment : Sports & Outdoors
Let us know how it works for you...

Tom Howarth - I don't see any 1" thick exercise tiles for sale on Home Depot website? Maybe you think you have a best price because they are only 1/2"?

Home Depot does have the 1” mats on their website but at $1.72 a sq/ft, quite a bit more than you pay on Amazon for the identical mat. I see where guys use less than 1” perfectly fine, it also depends on if you want it to sit flush with your hitting mat comes into play. I personally wanted to go thicker so that I could put in putting cups with a little more depth, an expensive decision but aren’t they all in these simulator builds?

Not trying to call anyone out on pricing tom Howarth, that’s why I mentioned multiple companies and sales. Seems to be dictated quite a bit by timing as the projector I bought 2 weeks ago is now on sale haha. Hopefully we all time it right to get the best price but guessing it will all even out on these builds.

Timmy5under - I hear you, just bought a heater that's $20/cheaper. About to re-order (same model but with legs) and return the other. I don't know why Amazon does not offer price-matching?
It's pretty hard to 'guess' on timing, I use the 'Keepa' App/plug-in for Amazon that shows you a history of prices, and will watch-them as well, to let you know when they drop to a certain price - if you're looking.
