Seeking Advice on Budget Garage Sim Set Up

Hey all,

I'm purchasing a Garmin Approach R10. I have a 19ft x 10ft x 10ft height space in my garage for this. I bought a 3x5 country club elite hitting mat from Costco.

My tentative plan is to get a curtain ceiling track (such as from https://roomdividersnow.com/products/ceiling-track-sets ) to go along the front and a 90 turn to bring it up to the front edge of the hitting mat. I would hang a hitting net from this of course.

I don't plan to use a projector at this time, likely just stream my phone to a TV on the side and upgrade later.

I've heard that with a net you need two feet clear behind it for the ball impact. What kind of not overly expensive impact screen or other material can be hung along the back to reduce that and how much space behind would still be advisable to be leave?

Does anyone have experience in using a curtain track for this and have you had good results? I like that its a quick set up and clean up in just pushing it to the side.

Anyone else with a garage set up have some sort of material they lay out in front of the net to prevent the balls from bouncing and rolling all over?

Any other general advice is greatly appreciated, waiting on y'alls expertise before I make the purchases of my bootleg set up

I put a net on a steel cable and used it like a shower curtain, it worked very well. I then put a piece of pr20 from west coast netting and it was better in terms of how much it would deflect back. My setup though, i didn't have to worry about depth since there was a door behind it that needed clearance.

I used a steel cable with turnbuckles to tighten, got it from Menards. works well. I used carabiners to hang it, works just like a shower curtain, as mentioned. The curtain device looks ok too though. For my floor I just laid down some carpet padding and went with the grizzly carpet at Lowes, green grass color, its a whole lot better than concrete but the ball will roll back sometimes. It's pretty budget friendly too. I didnt use anything behind the net, i had about 3 feet of clearance to the wall. i've seen some just put down a soft blanked control balls after they come off the net.

Try a heavyweight canvas tarp: https://www.menards.com/main/tools/a...0059184030.htm Make sure if you try it that it's canvas.

It will not bounce balls back if you just have it hanging from the top.
