Good morning all (11:00 here in the UK)
after a few weeks of nagging the Mrs everyday I have been given the thumbs up to build a simulator. Original plan was a garden office building, but with the planning regs etc here it seems to much hassle.
Next best was to measure up the garage, below are my measurements I am dealing with l.
Height 2.7m / 8feet 10 inch
Width 3.1m / 10ft 2 inch
Length 4m/ 13ft
length can be extended, garage actually is about 8m long, but I need a small space at the front for bikes and other bits…so don’t want to be going anymore that 4.5m max!
I am 6ft 2 so I was concerned about the height, however after a couple of driver swings it seems fine…even if I end up just using irons it’s not really an issue for me as I just want an area to improve my game!
I am new to the simulator world so after some reading up and advice I have chosen the following products that I think will best work in my space…
Golf bays enclosure & screen 2.4m high, 3m wide, 1.5m deep £1,612
Skytrak and case, new £2000.. preowned £1500
Tee turf golf strike mat £449
Optoma GT1080 preowned £350
I’ve had to enquire about a custom enclosure, as you can see from my pics the garage height is stepped down…which I’m hoping won’t be an issue, I will be swinging in the higher area and the enclosure will go the other end…2.4m will be the maximum height there..
with the projector I know nothing about them, just that I’ll need a short throw, I can go anywhere up to 3.5m away from the screen and I am thinking of going ceiling mounted..
due to the width I think I’ll be hitting slight off centre, which again is fine! And I’m thinking of hitting around 7ft from the screen!
gaming pc wise this will be a purchase in the future, along with extra software!
im after any tips or tricks and things to watch out for! Open to any advice, please help me I’m new to this! Want to make the most out of the small space I have!
if you would recommend any products over the ones I have listed I am open to change, and any better ways of building the sim please let me know!
