13x7.7?

Starting a garage build and I’m stuck with screen size. Without changing the joists I can fit a 13x7.7 (16:9) screen. Has anyone installed or played on that size? Any issues with the height? I feel like it would be too low.

That is plenty for the screen IMO. Mine is actually slight smaller and I find it great. The real question is overall ceiling height in your hitting area. If you are sub-8' there as well this might not work out too well for you.

Ceiling will be 8’ above the screen about 5’ out. Then I raised the joists to 10’. Reason I don’t want to move the joists up above the screen is I still need some storage area and rather keep the weight on the walls rather than the rafters.

OK - I see no reason why you cannot work with that. Keep your hitting area on the closer range of 8 to 10 feet. You can run some basic math to prove to yourself that for normal shots even with wedges you should be more than good at that height (remember even a 60 degree wedge comes off the face much lower angle though there are many factors affecting the actual number). You will want some sort of protection or damper on the ceiling in that 5' section but there are a lot of options which can be used for that.

jasonreg - 5’ from hitting area is where you start with ceiling baffles, or 5’ out from screen? I’m at 7’2” screen height but with 10’ height
to screen in the center (gambrel roof). I’m 8’4” to 9’ ball to screen.
