There has been some topics on here about converting to scissor trusse in your garage to get more height and that is exactly what im trying to do. The issue I'm running into is finding a company that does it. I live in the Chicago area and was wondering if any of you guys have any contact info of a company that does this work? I'm trying to see how much it will cost to do it.

I would suggest going to garagejournal and join their forum. You should be able to find someone in your area. -
One option would be to have an engineer size/plan the modification. Then with the plans in hand, you would have a bit more flexibility in hiring a framer to do the work as you don't really need a general contractor to handle the design.Originally posted by gohandbz8 View PostComment

Like this? I did this myself - cost about $125 per truss raised from 7 ft to 10 ft six. Those are calle Gussett Panels - went up as High as an 8 ft 2x6x8 would span, nailed inline with truss, then added a king truss vertical in center to top point then got 4x8 sheet of plywood and measured from end on 2x6 to center and how tall to point in roof snapped some lines, ripped the 1/2 inch plywood triangles and nailed them in - both sides. Roof is stronger now that ever and this keep all pressure going down the walls from the ends. I also reinforced with 2x6x20 along all trusses end of the 2x6x8 truss/gusset panels. You will save a tone DIY and get your Paslode nail gun all in with nail gun cost me about 2K to raise the roof.Attached FilesComment

Here are Gussets with the braces on the side and you can see the originaltruss height at 7 ft boy going to 10.5 is huge. Note too the bracing at end from Gussets to wall on bothe ends to keep it firm and no sway. Still waiting on delivery of everything but hitting balls now.
