  • Custom Simulator Build Progress

    February 25th, 2022

Excited to have started my build this weekend. We built our house just over 2 years ago and when I was designing it I specifically dedicated this space in the basement for a golf sim. I looked at many simulator companies and was originally planning on going with Golfzon or Full Swing system. I actually finished the basement around the Full Swing system but became less of a fan after playing on an Uneekor Eye XO system last week and decided I can build a nicer system for less. So I’m creating this post to document the process. I’ll be sure to provide as much information as possible as well as the products I’m using in my install.

My dedicated golf sim overall space size is 13’6” wide x 12’ tall x 34’ deep.

So the first step cost me $1400 in 2x4’s and Plywood. I decided to build a riser to designate the golfing platform. I’m using 2x4’s to build a 19’ deep platform and topping it with 2 sheets of 3/4” plywood, the reason for two sheets is to recess the 4’x9’ hitting mat by 3/4”. The hitting mat I’ll be using is Swingturf 4’x9’ mat from Rain or Shine Golf for $910.

Today didn't seem like much progress was made but it's more than it appears, finished setting the 2x4's for the framing and getting them secured in place. Then ran conduit and electric for outlets in the riser for lighting. I also ordered 20 linear feet of 15' wide putting surface material for $1290, 2 practice 6" depth putting cups for $13 and 1"x12x12" acoustic foam panels from Amazon for $400ish to deaden the sound behind the impact screen.

Hey kefferch - looking good... I wonder about something. When I laid my flooring, I ran them depth wise the full depth of my 12'x16' space to allow me to drop in a floor sensor and move it back/forth (closer to, and away from) the screen. You must not have a sensor to worry about? I also turned my 2x4's on their side.

Keep going, the early phases like this seem to take way longer than the final steps

Hey! Yeah I’m planning on Uneekor Eye XO so not worried about sensor in the floor. However, if I ever needed to cut in the floor I could.
