  • Garage Build in New England - Quick Suggestions/Thoughts Please

    Hello,

Tons of great information here, just a lot to digest and I'm a little information overloaded. I'm building a garage sim here in New England and will have to move cars in and out, especially during winter. Garage will only be used for golf and cars. Currently using a NetReturn and already have the FB 10x4 hitting mat, Skytrack, and this laptop. Here are my questions..
    • Retractable or Mounted screen? I'm in between an 8x10 or 9x12 screen (either Carl's Premium or GungHoGolf Eagle). The screen will be on the back wall, but I'm concerned it will get dirty/damaged if always exposed. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on this scenario?
    • If retractable, I will go with The SportScreen. But, if I go with the 9x12, I would cut the 16 foot roller down to 12 feet. Would that produce a lot of sag in the middle?
    • Projector - I will be running either E6 or TGC off a laptop, I'm thinking the Optoma 1080HDR ST would be sufficient on either an 8x10 or 12X9 screen. Throw distance and height are not an issue because I have plenty of room to mount. I know laser would be better, but I don't know if the cost justifies the result. The other option would be one of the BenQ's but my understanding is that a 16:9 projector will produce a better image than a 4:3 projector, regardless of the screen size.
Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Morning, I am a fellow new englander .

My garage doubles as my sim and a garage as well.

Def a mounted screen, especially if you are looking for good quality image from the projector. I had a retractable screen in the past and found that it had some sag as well as created a indentation where I typically hit my drives which distorted the image. I switched to the mounted 10x10 carls premium and never looked back. Stays clean by itself and I haven't experienced damage and it has been exposed for years. Make sure the balls are clean and anyone who plays clubs are clean as well. Any marks come off easily with just a bit of dish soap and water mix.

I have the Optoma 1080HDR....worth every penny. Great for running TGC 2019 and the image is super clear.

    Hope this helps!
