Divot Action-Custom Design Golf-Suggestions for replacement insert

I built a great simulator with the help of many folks on this forum; THANK YOU. We installed a Divot Action mat from Custom Design Golf, which has worn out and I can’t get in touch with the owner, John Carilli. Does anyone know what has happened? Do you have any suggestions for a replacement insert?

What are the dimensions? I think you can get a Holy Grail to fit.

Make your own? Thats what I did. Absolutely love it. All it takes is some polycarbonate, foam strips, turf, and construction adhesive.

Go to your local hardware store and pick up some thick but flexible lexan, some strong construction adhesive, and some durable outdoor astroturf (you can also see if your local driving range will sell you/give you and old mat). Cut your lexan and astroturf to size and glue together with construction adhesive. Then cut up your wife's yoga mat into small strips (that'll go over well) and glue them to the underside of the lexan and voila, a new insert, and plenty of time to yourself while she cools off.

Sadly, John passed away last year. Their site is still active. We have the DA mat and really like it, the Holy Grail has received great feedback.

Thank you for letting me know; that's very sad to hear as he was very supportive and helpful. Their site is active, but I have no idea how to order a new insert. I'll give the Holy Grail a try.

When you say thick but flexible Lexan, what thickness are we talking? Like 6 mm (1/4")? There are so many variations of the stuff it makes it hard to source out. Seems like Lexan is just a brand name, but I see polycarbonate and acrylic at Home Depot so makes it confusing which is the right one to get. I have a couple small windows to replace in a door, so I might buy some for that and see how they work out and then use the same stuff when I get to the stage of building my own hitting insert.

I'm not sure what thickness I have out in the sim at the moment, but I've gone as thin as .09 and as long as you don't really come in too steep it works fine. I wouldn't go any thinner. As long as it flexes I would think you should be ok

I've never done this but I'd think 1/4" would be thicker than ideal. I had a sheet cut and filed to fit precisely on the dining table - protects the top from the kids and it's significantly quieter than tempered glass if they start going Keith Moon on it - but it's 1/4" and seems fairly stiff when I have to remove it for guests.
