  • Too small?

Hi everyone! I’ve decided to try and setup a golf simulation room in my house. Only issue is the spare room that I want to do my build is fairly tight according to what I’ve been reading in the forum. The room is 9ft 9 inches wide, 9ft in lheight and 18ft 6inches in length. I’ve done some practice swings with my driver and seem to be in the clear. What are some of your opinions on this? Will it work? What are some of your experiences with a smaller room like this? Anyone currently have a room setup with similar dimensions or smaller?

You will have to put the screen on the 9-9 wall. That means the ball placement will be approx 33" from right and 84" from left. So you will be hitting more towards the right side. Its tight, but can be done. What system are you using? Did you want top/sides? Post pics and I will get you a quick layout.

    thx

along these lines, what is the shortest room length (along target line) that one could use for indoor room?

Depends on which launch monitor you use. Photo metric units you just need to be able to swing your driver. With radar units it usually is no shorter than 16 feet. The more distance the better the radar units work.

Turshi . Venom is right... I have a Garmin Approach R10 inside a 15'5" long space (11'5" wide). The space measures 16'x12' exterior and is a shed. I'm also putting in a ProTee LM in this space. You can go smaller with photo units, but I don't think I would want to, especially if you want to attempt putting in the space. You really want to have some open area to putt in, and see ball flight - I have about 8'6" of ball flight.

Garmin is your discount option which, at the moment, does not offer Putting, another reason I'm installing ProTee. I want full putting along with everything else so I can practice short game inside the space and the ProTee putting sensor is the only one for doing that in a sim that is tied to the hitting sensor.

14 ft of depth is minimum. screen is 1 ft off of wall, 8 ft to ball, 5 ft from ball to back wall ( room to swing )= 14 ft . post your room dimensions

        thx

Chip, if I may hijack this thread ever so briefly. I see on your website that a new "proseries" enclosure is being developed, which has me intrigued. What's the timeline on that please?

Thanks for the responses guys. Here is what the room looks like along with the measurements. Not sure who would make a custom enclosure. Carls place from what I’ve been reading in the forum is talked about a lot. What are some other recommendations?

The "outside" dimensions of a Carls Place Enclosure are a few inches wider than what size you actually order. My 10'0 wide enclosure (which is great) is about 10'4 wide. The visible screen is 116" wide. You also need to allow (with an enclosure) about 12" of space above for when you hit higher shots that occasionally hit the top of the enclosure, as well as a few inches on the side to allow for shots that hit the side. If you use an enclosure, it would probably have to be ordered at 9'0 wide by 8'0. Your viewable screen would be around 8'6. In my opinion, the space would be extremely tight for an enclosure. I would suggest padding the walls and a portion of the ceiling or side curtains and padding. But the window on the left could be a problem. Unfortunately, even though you can swing in there, I think the room is too small. I hope you can work it out.
