Panasonic PT-VZ580U or something else?

Hoping to get some advise on projector. Thinking of getting a Panasonic PT-VZ580U, I've seen it around $1200 USD new. Is there a better projector within the same price range? Room measurement is 17' by 12.5' with a 10' ceiling, planning on Carl's impact screen 8'x10.5" or 8.5'x11.5'.

My room dimensions are very similar to yours. 17' x 12'10" x 8'11". I'm using the Eiki EK-308U. 6000 lumen WUXGA (compared to 5000 lumens on the Panasonic). I'm glad this projector was suggested to me as it is crazy adjustable and super bright. I have it ceiling mounted in the back corner of the room. Because it's in the back corner the image is pretty skewed without adjustments. I got it dialed in...

I also use the Eiki and can confirm it is a great projector. I am sure that this Panasonic is great also. I also note that the 308u has both vertical and horizontal lens shift (manual).
