  • Outdoor hanging impact screen sound

I currently am using a cheaper impact screen from amazon that somebody gave me. I wanted to see if the sound, ricochet, and size would work before I ordered something better.

But right now when I hit the ball, it makes a huge bang firework noise.

Is this because my impact screen is so cheap?

Currently its hanging with 4 bungees/tarp clips from the top, 1 on each side in the middle, and 1 on each side on the bottom. I can add more/less.... Tried with less and more and its about same. As well as with a metal emt at the bottom.

My original idea was to get a carls premium and 16' sportscreen but right now things aren't looking too hot. Don't want to be a menace to my neighbors and hit fireworks all day...

I thought about maybe adding memory foam but that won't really work I think cause the weight added to the sportscreen.. or would it?

    Any ideas?

All hanging screens are loud. A higher quality, triple-layer screen will be slightly quieter but not silent.

You're basically hitting a drum with a golf ball.

Even if I don't connect any of the sides or bottom?

There's a few threads on this here. The tautness of the screen, material and layering all play roles in how loud it is.

I have no experience with a mounted screen as mine simply hangs, but it's a super quiet from Par2Pro and is pretty bassy when hitting into it.

You could try that, I did in my Sim Shed setup and reduced the noise - but ended up with balls coming back at me as they went right to the wall behind the screen and ricocheted! I'm now working on tightening that up - but I'm indoors. Outdoors you won't have that limitation, but may end up with balls flying way back behind the net?

Let us know what you find,
