New sim setup - need help with orientation please

Hi Guys,

Getting back to golf after 18 years. Was a 9 handicap but gave it up as I was too addicted, and my work was suffering. Serious. Now, I can afford more time to play golf. Co incidentally we are also building a new home so I have some ability to plan for a golf sim room

Attached is the plan of my ground floor. Planning to shift the bike room out and remove the bathroom there. That gives me a 14*16 room with a small encroachment on the bottom right area. The shaded green area will be the sim room. Cant make any structural changes as that part is already built.

Not looking at a projector, and as I am right handed, need my TV on the right of the mat. Ordered a Skytrak so length should not be an issue.

Would love to here how you guys would orient the sim. The windows are not in place yet, so can be changed as required.

The clear height I have is 9'10". I'm 5'8", so will that be comfortable for a driver swing? I can get the floor sunken by 7 inches if required, and that would give me 10'5" clear height if that would make it more comfortable.

I was thinking of the net where I have marked in black. TV on the right of the mat, so that would be on the back wall. Anything better that I can do?

Your location marked in black looks ok, or you could have your impact screen / net on the left where the window is, and your hitting mat toward the gym or even inside the gym area as it's just a mat and you can move it around if need be...
You'd get to keep the bathroom, but the 11' width is a bit tight so you'd be hitting off center, but still better than the 9' if you have the net in the bathroom...

If the net is in the 9 foot space of the bathroom, I would be hitting from the 14 foot wide area. Why would that be hitting off centre?

If you are RH, you should be fine with your original placement (bathroom), but if you put the net where the window is, then you'd need to be off center to some extent

iThe 9 ft area is a little short. the good news is ( since you are RH), you will be able to center the ball on the screen. 9-10 should be fine with hieght. I would go with a 9 x 9 x 5 setup. you could put it on the 11' wall to give you a little more width. thx chip spectrum golf

Maybe make the bathroom smaller, keep the toilet + a basin instead of the shower.... gives you more room for the sim...

Thanks guys. Decided to remove the bathroom and expand the room to the full size by removing the encroachment at the bottom right. That will give me 14*16 feet clear.

What height do you think should be fine? Currently it is designed for 9'10", but as the construction is ongoing, I can raise the ceiling by a couple of inches, or, lower the floor by 7".

keep in mind that you need at least 2" to flooring materials (foam, turf...). Not sure if that is accounted for in your 9'10".
If you can get extra height at this stage without too much hassle, go for it, otherwise, it's not too bad as it is.

Thanks adilgolf . No, the 9'10" is bare floor to ceiling. I think I will sink the room by 7 inches. Wont add to cost at all now.
