Ball Rolling up Above/Behind Screen

In my setup, I have the screen attached via tarp clips. It's about 10' wide and I have clips every 2' or so. I built bumpers (to hide the clips and the conduit pipe they are bungeed to) from the gutter guards from Home Depot, wrapped in cloth and attached to a board that is attached to my frame via velcro. Everything looks good (or good enough to me), but with wedges, the ball hits the screen and kind of rolls up the screen, squeezes between the bumper and the screen and then goes behind the screen. One thought I had was to put velcro on the clips themselves and then the mating velcro on my bumper to tighten up that spacing, but I don't think the velcro strips will stick to the fabric very strongly.

Any other ideas?

Are you hitting a premium golf ball and generating an appropriate amount of spin? When I hit Top Flights, they behave how you described and end up coming back at me after hitting the top of my enclosure. Premium balls appear to grab my screen and fall straight down.

Staple one horizontally behind your top angled pad with the 2" side flat against the backside of the pad, maybe a couple of inches above the bottom of the pad so you don't get any kickback. That might prevent the ball from getting through the seam between the pad and the screen just by having something solid to stop it's progress.

My guess is that the ball isn't rolling up the screen and getting through, it's much more likely that the impact point is very near where the pad starts and it's getting "driven" up into the seam. You might have to experiment a bit with placement as balls could get trapped behind the pad , but at least they wouldn't be getting past your nicely designed setup That's a good looking wall you've constructed.

I was just using any old ball I had laying around the basement for now. Room is still being finished.

As for impact point, I'm sure it's quite high on the screen, yes. I was hitting a gap wedge at the time. I'll play around with a 1x2 or something similar to act as a barrier to getting behind there. What I fear is that the screen is always going to flex backwards, away from my pads and any other barrier i attach to the pads. A barrier attached to the clips (which is turn attached to the screen) may work though. I appreciate the ideas. I'll keep playing around with it.

Userbob2000 - I solved this by draping my fabric over the top wire (where my screen is clipped on) and dropping in Gutter Foam along the bottom of the draping (inside of the Commando Cloth fabric) - then back up and excess fabric goes behind the wire. I think the trick may be in my situation that I let the 'draping' hang down a good 4"-6" over where the line is that the screen is clipped to. It may work for you too, but I'm not sure - maybe these pics will give you some ideas. Let me know if you have any questions.
