I am getting ready to start a build in yard. I have about 16’ wide and 15’ long for the hitting area. 10’ high will be inside height of ceiling. Then a jog to bring width down to about 13’ wide and extends back another 11’. Just wondering if i should do a cage or just suspend the screen to the walls. Also what size screen would be best? I wanna fill the screen. I will get a 4k projector also. Wondering how far from screen should i place hitting area. I have a gcquad. Other thing is i want to use it sometimes as a movie room so should i gt a retractable movie screen also? Or just use golf screen? It will be 99% for golf. Thanks I’m sure there will be more questions.

Given those room dimensions I would just attach the screen to the walls about 12-16 inches of the 16x10 wall. You have perfect dimensions for a 16:10 or 16:9 aspect ratio. With the quad your hitting area isn't as important as with a radar unit, but I think 10-11 feet from the screen would be comfortable and not get you into trouble with the diagonal wall for right handed players.Comment

So what do people use to attach the screen to the walls? I figure tarp clips with bungee to screen but then what to walls? What about errand shots? What should i put on the walls and ceiling. That’s why i was thinking cage. Also if i mount the projector to ceiling how do i know i won’t have shadows of golfer. Thank you guys for helping. I wanna get it right first timeComment

Hey Simgolfer, if you haven't gotten all your questions answered quite yet a couple/few thoughts...
Looks like you've got plenty of room all around. Check out the Foresight page and see their Sim-in-a-Box space requirements for a reference. Plenty of room with the dimensions they provide and your added 10' ceiling will be plenty for anyone to swing driver.
Pending your degree of DIY interest, and "getting it right the first time" desire, I might consider reaching out to one of the sim/set-up shops. A number of folks here that you'll find having responded to other posts that can defintiely help. Else if you're in the States I'd suggest Ace Indoor who does a good detail of Foresight supply and installation coordination. For some, the figuring it out on your own is part of the fun, but if less preferred you'll be able to tell these folks what you've got to work with and they'll be able to then talk you through exactly what you need in terms of screen, how to fasten it, protecting your wall/ceiling, etc.
You'll love the Quad as I'm sure you've found already. Have had ours since early this year. Actually sharing it with others now the last number of months. 18 members and counting paying me $40/month. A nice way for it to pay for itself! Created a unique insurance policy and the cool part is that even though I didn't know any of the members prior, extent that it's a small number of folks who like golf that all live in the neighborhood effectively eliminates the "stranger" factor. Thank you fort he reply. I am in the Bay Area ca and not many sim builders out here. I dont mind doing things DIY but just wanna make sure i do it right the first time. Like get the right screen size and all. Also wanna make sure my projector won’t have a shadow from me in hitting area. I might have to go short throw cause i plan on hitting from 10’ to screen and my size screen the projector needs to be about 14’ away. I love my quad, had it for about a year now. Was almost thinking of selling it and going with uneekor or gchawk but probably wont.Comment
