Hinged impact screen that folds to ceiling

Hey everyone, I could use some advice here. I was going to go with a motorized screen, but not really wanting to spend $1500 on a screen yet.

With that being said, my simulator room is my garage which I also use to park mine and my wife’s vehicles and I occasionally do woodworking in there.

Because of that, I require everything to be easy to setup and put away.

What I’m leaning towards right now is a screen that is attached to a frame that hinges and can fold up at the ceiling. Please see the attached image for my idea.

What I’m wondering is

Has anyone else done anything like this?

Is there a recommended screen?

Ideas on how to attach the screen to the frame?

What should I use for the frame?

What should I use to create the hinge?

The current garage door opener is being replaced with a wall mount garage door opener

I’d still like to see what solutions others have come up with too if there are anymore with this hinged style.

justins9 we just made a hinged system for my dad's sim with EMT framing. It seemed okay initially, but the screen sags downward when pulled up even when fully stretched around all the sides. It makes sense as the screen material (Jason Mills 501) is meant to absorb the impact. When we asked one stop sim shop where we bought the screen if that would cause an issue they said it would likely cause the screen to stretch/loosen over time. He ordered a metech that evening. Depending on your screen material it may work, but one stop recommended putting something else behind the screen to limit/stop sagging. If you look at the example above he used a net and mattress topper behind the screen before moving to a retractable screen.
