    I need help with completing my golf simulator setup

    I purchased a Trackman (indoor + outdoor) simulator and I’m pairing it with a BenQ projector (model LK936ST, price $5k). Now I need to decide on which gaming laptop to buy. I’d ideally want a laptop that is future proof for the next 4-5 years, so I’m ok paying more to go above the minimum specs recommended by Trackman. My budget for a laptop is between $2k-$3k. Oh, I’m also not interested in a desktop due to me needing something that is portable.

    I’m considering going with an Alienware x15 laptop (i9, NVDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card, 32GB of RAM, 1TB of memory). Dell is currently advertising this model for close to $3k. Is this overkill? Do you have any alternate recommendations?

      Is there a reason you want to go laptop instead of desktop? Look at the difference in performance between a desktop 3080 and a laptop 3080. You can have a much nicer desktop.

          I’m starting a mobile golf simulator business. Portability is key (I’d prefer to not have to lug around a desktop).

          Ah, yea the desktop is def better but for your use the laptop is easier. Laptops by nature are tough to future proof but this one should last a while, prob not 4+ years

              I went with the Razer 15 I7 with gtx 3070 laptop. Need something portable for the garage. Understand thinking behind upgrades but the amount of times I’ve upgraded a desktop is zilch in the last 20 years. Things move to fast.

                  I've had my eye on this sweet Laptop that is reasonably priced ($800 or so) - you will want to max out RAM on it, to 32GB, or 64GB:

                  I'm 35+ years in IT - always went with Desktops until I spent the last year with one that will not work with my setup.
