  • New England Garage build

Been a 2-3 month process but finally just about finished (for now). I’ve learned with the amount of money it cost you have to take things in stages.
2 car garage but needed to retain functionality of 1 bay. added attic subfloor, insulated, and vapor barrier to keep warmth in. Large electric heater running near 40amps. Holy grail hitting strip cut into an Amazon mat. Some old carpet from the basement for the floor. Still trying to find a couch or some seats on Facebook marketplace as my buddies and I like to hang out and watch redzone and the pats while we play on Sunday’s. Added a few curtains and a net to the top and sides. Enclosure is custom built, I got it on 1inch emt and tarp.com connectors. It’s built to 9x12 exactly to match the screen from carls. Benq short throw and that’s the setup!
    nice and simple.

    looks great and cute pup!

I am looking to do a custom enclosure build with a carls impact screen as well, what is tarp.com? That website isnt working for me.

Forgot the s, i believe it’s tarps.com but any tarp website will have the pipe corners/fittings.
the pup has been helping and is in there with me everytime I play, she’s a good helper/caddy.

What mat did you use to insert the HG strip into?

Looks a lot like my build I did in my two car garage in 2020 her in PA. I had a basic Skytrack + Net setup with a basic mat that, over a 5 year period evolved into a Carl’s Place impact screen, Fiberbilt mat, Uneekor QED and high end gaming laptop. The ceiling in my garage was open (joists exposed) so I insulated it and then put in a tile ceiling. I used Ceiling Max which only sits down like 1.75 inches from the joists. That helped maintain a very comfortable ceiling height (just short of 10 feet). I also installed a heater which hangs from the ceiling. The insulation and ceiling tiles do a good job maintaining the climate. It rarely goes below 45 degrees in the dead of winter (I only use the heater when I am using the sim). The heater easily gets the garage to 60-70 degrees in 30 minutes. I have a dehumidifier which I use in the summer to keep the humidity under 60. Overall, for an average schmuck like me its a great setup.

Thanks Diablo25 - have you tested the outside boundaries all the way to 18" width, and 18" depth with balls anywhere in that area being just as accurate a read, as exactly in the center of that hitting area? Sorry for questions, but I'm really wondering how much 'leeway' I'll have to drop a ball away from the center of the 18"x18" hitting area and how accurate it will be?

I haven’t had any issue just staying anywhere inside the area. When you calibrate the QED you literally see the hitting area in the calibration software. Here is a link to the calibration manual. You can see the calibration area in there. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/03...f?v=1602106741

Thank you Diablo25 - I see, that's a great calibration guide. Time will tell over the next few months on whether I will need a full 24"x24" area so that I can have multiple hitting strips (first cut, rough, fairway, putting) in that area.

it’s a cheaper Amazon one, on top of 3/4 EVA foam tiles and non slip rubber base.
