  • New Build HELP

    Hi all,

Starting the buy/build process for a new garage simulator in Minnesota.

I've decided on Uneekor monitor (still deciding between the Eye and Qed)

Looking for recommendations for the following:

    1) Hitting Matt
    2) Impact screen
    3) gaming pc
    4) projector
    5) curtains/fabric (will be a custom enclosure build)

    Any other considerations?

    Thanks in advance!

    1) Hitting Matt - Holy Grail from Gung Ho Golf
    2) Impact screen - Bullseye Golf
    3) gaming pc -desktop with RTX 3080 GPU; Intel or AMD CPU
    4) projector - BEN Q TK700STi
    5) curtains/fabric (will be a custom enclosure build) - Chicago Canvas

Other Considerations - putting turf NP45 from SImTurf.com; heating for your garage

Schlaud23. Check out https://surfthing.com. They are a MN company and did all the work at 2ndSwing, the U of M and helped me with my projector. I believe they also provided all the tech at Golf Galaxy as well as manage it for them. Good folks. They did a friend of mines house as well recently. They have great computers and a good source.

How big of a space are you working with?

Richerod has good advice as well to start shopping. Do not go cheap on your mat. Trust me, your elbows and wrists will thank you.

I'm 6' 6" so going to need to build something tall but have a 12 ft high ceiling in the garage so should be good there.

Planning on heating and insulatating the garage to.

Schlaud23 - this is all good advice here from richerod and @scottygolf.

Regarding Heating/Cooling, have a look at this Mini-Split, which I highly recommend... It's installed in my shed and I've been tracking the temperature for several months now, it's doing a great job:

You can see the entire post where I discuss all of my build and see more about the Mini-Split at this thread:
          https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...238#post369238

As far as Computer goes, I used to recommend desktops only, but my tight space, and failed Desktop (USB connections), has shown me that this laptop is great, and will mount on a 'wall desk' and be completely out of the way:

Good luck... feel free to ask any questions...

I have the same mini split but 24k btu, much cheaper at Home Depot.

Third box? My line set was included and I only had two boxes so that’s strange. That being said everyone financial situation is different, the $400+ proce difference mattered to me.

Funny I don't see that the price difference is that much, it was only less than $100 when I looked, actually just looked again it's only $13.00 right now: $981.30/HomeDepot, $968/Amazon. Your price difference was greater with the 24k btu unit.

Yes, a 3rd box, indicated on the shipping order for delivery to big box orange which they could not find in their stockroom where my unit was held for me to pickup. Why would you question what I told you when you did not order the exact same unit I did. Mine was 9k btu (much smaller) and therefore shipping handled differently.

Odd, when I clicked the link previously it loaded a $1750 2-ton unit. On the 9k btu then you are correct for sure

buy the highest quality mat and screen. those are the 2 components that are hit on every shot. For golf screen, get the poly spacer screen, go to https://virtual-golf-simulator.com/g...l-choose-size/

Great advice from all the folks commenting here...

Here is my build which I just finished (well it's never really finished...)
First time poster here... Been reading this forum for a long long time getting ideas and learning. So first and foremost a HUGE THANK YOU to this site and community for sharing all your great ideas and builds. I was going to build my sim in my Garage but the cost to remove the lollycolumns was over 12 grand, so I figured I

Put it together myself (except the concrete) and took most of the ideas from this site... The specs I used are in my first post...
