New golf Sim build question

I have just been approved on this forum, so thank you for all the knowledge I've already picked up. I have moved from a garage setup with nets to a projector and screen indoors. My enclosure is from Carl's place and will be 163" x 105". Hence 16:10. I've purchased the Optoma HD1080GTR projector so it should sit approx. 7.5 feet back from the screen. My room is only 18 feet deep, so I plan on hitting from approx. 8 feet. I plan on using less bungees to prevent a ball from flying back at me in the face. I have purchased the country club elite hitting mat 5 x 10'. It should all be arriving later this week. My actual room dimension are 166" x 9 feet (vaulted to 11.5 feet in centre) x 18 feet.

Hoping someone can help with the following questions:

1. For a landing pad, I currently am putting my enclosure in a vaulted family room with carpet. So I am not sure I need a landing pad. If I do, I have found a synthetic turf supplier who will give me samples. Would you put some sort of foam under the putting turf landing pad for firmness or simply use the carpet as a landing pad? Just wondering your thoughts?

2. The back wall has drywall and wood paneling. I am planning on building the enclosure 1 foot off the wall. With the vaulted ceiling, I am worried about sound and loudness. I've read ideas about padding the back wall, or hanging a net and or memory foam or moving blankets with grommets behind the enclosure to soften the sound and rebound. Do you guys think I NEED to do this or simply try it out first? I ordered the premium impact screen, so hoping it will hold up for some time

3. With the roof being vaulted. The peak is about 11.5 feet. The projector will sit 1 foot infront of the hitting area but will be at around 9.5 feet. I am 5'7" and have hung strings and never hit them when I swing driver. Do you see this monitor being a problem in front of my hitting area at that height? The only other option is a Ben Q but it would have to sit well behind my hitting area and with the ceiling vaulted, it would drop down to close to 9 feet. Just curious if anyone else has setup a projector 1 foot infront of their hitting space at around 9.5 feet?

I don't think you'll need a landing pad, any type of padded carpet should cushion the ball enough that it isn't bouncing all over the place after impacting the screen.

I don't think you'll need to worry about sound until you use the facility for awhile, for us it's the driver smacking the ball that's the loudest sound, not sure you can do much there. I'd be more concerned with your rebound at first, the net, memory foam or moving blankets will surely help there. Start by hitting a 5 iron into the screen and see how much tension you'll need on the bungees, or how many bungees you'll need, to keep from having the ball impact the wall, even a ball hit into a screen still making contact with the wall has some pretty good velocity coming back at you. Been there, done that, don't recommend it. Start with something other than your driver.

Regarding placement, you'd probably be okay, but you'll find out if any of your pals, or you, have some kind of hincky swing or follow through. If you can offset it a bit so it's over the hitting area, and not right above your head that would help also. You might consider placing on the floor in front of your hitting mat, placed so it's in between your feet and the screen. We used my initial setup that way for 2 years and never had an issue. It's a little odd the first time someone swings with it sitting in front, but offset from you r swing path, but after a few shots everyone forgets it's sitting there. Might want to build an enclosure for it though.

my son is right handed and I’m left handed. So our hitting area is planned to be central. The projector will be over that spot, so I was wrong. It is not over my head, more over the central hitting area.
