  • Attaching the impact screen to the sportscreen (how to line them up)??

    Hello,

First off, I want to thank everyone on here for everything I learned on this forum. I now have all of the parts for my build and am preparing to start the construction. Will take photos along the way and post a write up.

I have one critical question as I am about to attach my Par2Pro SQ impact screen to the Sportscreen this weekend... My wife will be sewing on velcro, but I am wondering how to line up the impact screen and sportscreen. I have seen tons of posts about the sportscreen builds but cant seem to find a definitive answer on this. To put it simply, which of these options should I go with:

    (A) Bottom of the impact screen lines up with bottom of Sportscreen
(I have seen Par2Pro experts recommend to pull the sportscreen away from the impact screen when hitting balls into it... so for it it stay, I assume they would both need to be touching the ground)

    (B) Bottom of impact screen hangs 1/2" lower than bottom of Sportscreen.
(Sportscreen instructions mention that you should shoot pucks at it when it is 1/2" off the ground. And I recall a post where someone mentioned their Par2Pro stealth screen had the impact screen half inch longer)

    (C) Other?

Side note: My wife will be making a ~5" hemmed seam at the bottom of the sportscreen so that I can put some of this stuff in there to provide a bit of weight at the bottom:

I am not familiar with a sportscreen but I am wondering why you need it? The impact screen should be all you need. Most folks just hit into the impact screen and project onto it as well. A good impact screen will stop any golf ball, be reasonably quiet, and have a good picture(depending on the projector). Should save you labor and cost.

I have the same sports screen and Par 2 Pro SQ Impact screen. My impact screen is much longer than my sports screens i just lay them both on my artificial grass on the ground.
My impact screen is not tight but i get no bounce back.
I did keep the sports screen higher one time but when you hit low shots you might get some bounce back due to the bar at the bottom.
I used tarp clips to hold the white flat bar you get with the sports screen to the bottom of my impact screen. When i roll it up the screens they have weight to it and rolls up nice

I attached photos of my setup hopefully you can see what i did its works for me.

I would recommend getting your wife to sew Velcro all around your impact screen so you can turn your impact screen due to wear and tear, but the par 2 pro screen is great.

1.) The image I posted was from my old cheapo $100 projector, but I purchased a new projector this year and image looks great. I can read all the text in E6. its golfing in the garage for the winter looks great to me.

2.) Velcro - around all the edges so you can turn the screen or flip it on the other side as well. I will be stitching more Velcro after this winter season.

3.) are you talking about the black heavy denim hanging on my ceiling to block shots from hitting my drywall? That black denim saved many shots that roll up from the screen or if you hit a flop shot. Just watch out when the ball hits the Sports screen roller bar at a certain angle the ball may be coming flying at you. Before I installed the ceiling protection I would catch/dodge golf balls every golf session. Now with the ceiling protection in and how i angled the denim it allows the ball to drop straight down. I rarely have balls bouncing towards me now.

Thanks! Good idea re the velcro on many sides. Will start on one side for now.

Yes, your black denim - where did you get it and how did you attach it?

I was planning to get some mesh tarp and hang out on the ceiling loose and droopy. Was also thinking to install a baffle from wood in front of the roller and glue some foam on it. Then pin the mesh tarp to that

Thanks to all the members on this forum that shared their experiences and setup. I would not be able to complete my garage simulator without reading all their posts. My simulator was built in 2 phases. Phase 1- Optishot white Tarp Foam balls Projector screen Dr J projector DIY stance matt made out 1.5 inch MDX and extra

i posted a picture in this thread for the ceiling protection good luck.

jpotas is right you don’t need the sportscreen part just use the roller bar and attach the Velcro. I have a metech roller with the direct from the mill screen and it works fine. I used a 3/4 inch steel pipe in the bottom and have it just a hair above the turf. I had tried bungie tarp clips and all sorts of tie down options and this works best for me

Shinaut - could you take a picture of how this is setup? I have 1/2" EMT pipes, one at the back wall, the other at the bottom of the screen where I wrap excess screen around it and bungee it from behind to the other 1/2" EMT pipe, but it doesn't seem to be holding the screen down, it's still pulling out and billowing out from the bottom (really annoying).

You say you have yours just above the turf - which is another thing I'm trying to prevent, I can hit low balls right into it and it ricochets from the metal - unless you're wrapping the EMT in pipe insulation or something?

It is to roll up and down (retract) the screen.
