Help with Build...frustration sets in QED/Swingbay

The Swingbay 10x8 assembly with 4ft sides went up great. The provided instructions said to mount the Optoma EH412st short throw at 71/2ft and between 9-10ft for ceiling mount. However, putting it up that high the enclosure cuts off the 1/4 of the top of screen. The included extension allows it to drop, but not enough to hit top of screen unless I move back toward my hitting area. I do not really like having a projector sitting at 8ft only a few feet from my swing. Anyone have any advise with this setup? I tried every setting I could find, but not an expert with projectors. Should I consider returning and getting regular vs short throw. I also worry about picture quality if I bring the short throw back too far and have to adjust the height with other methods. The biggest concern for my wife using it is picture quality, so need to get that one right.

I am using swingbay 10x8 enclosure, Optoma EH412st short throw, tee box at 11ft, Uneekor QEB mounted 31/2ft behind tee box. 10ft ceilings.

You do not say what resolution you are after, but a 4:3 image set back from 6'6" looks like it will give you a 9'10" x 7'4" image. If this is directed from floor up - do you still have an issue? Not sure if you have been to this site: Optoma EH412ST Projection Calculator - Throw Distance and Screen Size (projectorcentral.com) but it is a fantastic resource and you can visualize where a projector needs to be wrt available image.

I will say having the projector close to the hitting area (assuming the projector is centered and your hitting spot is directly (+/-) below the projector) is perfectly fine and IMO actually preferred. There is simply no way for you to hit the projector in your swing, and virtually no way to sky a ball sufficiently to hit your projector. My hitting area is about 10 feet back and projector is at 8 feet - works great.

Thank you for the quick response. Yes, I was going after the 4:3 image. If I use the calculator it says about 7ft back. My current hitting area is at 11ft with QED setup directly behind me. So that would put it at 4ft in front of me and at 8ft high (to get under the enclosure for top of screen). Seems a little risky for my kids and wife. My ceiling is 10'3", so I would need about a 30inch extension to allow the projection to go under the 4' enclosure of the swingbay. If I bring it back to say 8ft, then would I just use the zoom adjustment to fit to screen. Everything I researched said to bring short throw back until it fills top and bottom, then adjust the side to side with computer. This complicates it a bit understanding the adjustments to get best resolution..

I might consider (if you can) moving your hitting area up slightly - even a foot or two would reduce your concerns I think. Projector aside, hitting from 11 feet puts high lofted wedges into the ceiling I might think.

The other thing you could consider is mounting some projector protection around bottom and rear. I have seen on this site several different approaches using relatively low-cost materials - some super innovative folks in this group!
