  • DLow206's Retractable Garage Build

I have been spending a lot of time thinking about my garage sim build. The plan is to still be able to use the garage as needed, so I am going to be going with a retractable system.

Before talking about the fun stuff, going to mention a few preliminary tasks.

    1. Outlet install for side mounted garage door opener installed

    2. Whole house surge protector installed. While I had the electrician out, thought it would make sense to have this installed

    3. Clean up the garage, the least fun part.

Coming soon, installation of a wall mounted jackshaft garage door opener so that there is no center railing.

i pondered that for awhile and i will not be raising them, for a very specific reason.

borrowed the below image from another member. that is the Stealth Elite system in the picture. since my simulator will be about 10 feet in width (not the full length of the garage), the Stealth Elite brackets need to be above the railings so that the garage door can still close when everything is retracted. hopefully that makes sense.

I am totally new at this and was thinking of something in the garage. But my garage is packed! So you are going to hit towards the garage door? Hummmmm, I might be able to make that work in our garage. Then have drop down screens for the sides and back?? What sim are you going to use?

Which jackshaft opener did you get? Do you have the WD Torquemaster door?

Can't wait to see the updates as I'm doing the same project this coming summer. Just installed a Liftmaster 8500 (elite, non-W model). Now the orig opener ceiling receptacle will be perfect for projector!

Does anyone know where I can find a bracket like this one? I am not even sure what this is and only find angle iron when I search.
