Non-Permanent Wall Protection

Looking for ideas on protecting side walls. Total is about 80 sq ft.

I don't have enough room on the right side for a net to work, so I want to protect the wall directly.

Wants/Needs:
- be removeable with no/limited damage to the walls
- reasonable price - $3-4 per sq ft
- be able to take the impact - I suck at golf

My Initial Ideas:

1)

7/16" 4x8 sheets of OSB covered with something:

a) 1/2" or 3/4" foam puzzle mats
b) Rubber underlay, 5/16"
c) Carpet Tile

I could frame or support the OSB panels a bit and just lean them again the wall.

2)

3/4" foam mats with carpet glued on top. Hang from walls in a few spots.


Thoughts?

what is the height, can you just get a roll of cheap carpet and fasten to the ceiling and roll up to ceiling when you are not using simulator in off season, that would be 3 months of summer here.ha

Walls/ceilings are 106.5". Could just cover 8' up.

You think that carpet up against the wall would protect drywall or would the carpet have to be 2-4" away from the wall?

The sim room will stay up year round, off season is at least 6 months here. The "non-permanent" rule is a "request" from my wife.

I used a similar foam matting I put under my turf and attached with finishing nails. I don't hit mine with golf balls, but I'm sure it would take the impact alright, and the finishing nails leave very tiny holes if removed.

That looks good, minimal wall damage. Not sure if the foam can take a direct hit without splitting though.

I'm leaning towards 3/4" foam tiles covered with ~1/8" outdoor carpet. Glue them together and hang them with 4-6 screws per 4'x9' section.

I'm sure they could. They are like the gym matt floor stuff you can drop free weights on. Plus, you aren't going to be hitting directly at them, are you? haha. Your plan should work though. I actually thought your OSB board was a good idea too. you could glue them to a 1/4 OSB, then attach like a 1x3 furring strip board at the top and bottom of each 4x8 panel. then 1 strip of 1x3 strip board on near top of wall and just hang it there. easy removal. Work even better if you ange cut the strip boards, so they basically slide in.
