  • Confirming ceiling height on new build

Working on my first build in a warehouse. I have a space with 18' ceilings overhead, going with a 16x9 screen - probably going with gungho, but also considering Carls with flaps.

For my projector im running an Optoma UHD35STx - im seeing on projectorcentral.com I need about 8' from screen. My enclosure Im planning to have 16.5x 10x 10. So mounting the projector in the enclosure off a tube is current design.. I could fabricate a mount rail to come down from an overhead I beam and just run through ceiling fabric into enclosure.. so either method Im at 8' from screen at about 10' height.

My plan was to hit from 12' from screen off a fiberbuilt 10x4 so playing center left or right handed. I really dont want to move much closer... is that 8' distance mounted at 10' on center in a bad position? Should i consider moving up to 10'? One of the guys that plays with us is a basketball player about 6'10 - with some long ass clubs.

I also thought about the BenQ LK936ST which puts me back to 13'7" so over center slightly behind hitting zone... problem with that I will have my overhead spots shining down in front of projector onto hitting zone. Thanks for any input here,

I think you'd be okay at 10' high mounted 8' from the screen if your projector can generate a full screen image at that spec, especially if you hit 10' from the screen. Even at 12' hitting, projector at 8' you'd probably be okay unless someone tries to hit an incredible flop shot and unless your basketball player has some kind of extremely upright "hold it off at the top" swing, even then I don't think the projector is in danger. Any lefties? If not, see if you can offset it a foot or 2 to the right, would give you just a little more clearance.

We hit from 10', it's more than enough, don't give up any more room for the hitting area than you have to.
