  • finally have a sim setup at home :)

I had been wanting to do this for a while and now finally have a setup running. Its little cramped at about 8-9ft from the screen but I was not going to let that stop me from realizing my dream

Original plan was to wait for the Eye Mini and then decide which launch montor I would go with. With their delay my impatience won out and pulled the trigger on GC2 CPO deal.

Setup is 10x9 Carls DIY enclosure
    Projector: Benq TH671ST

For the base layer i double stacked foam tiles from Harbour Freight. I found these to be the cheapest of the foam tiles. However seems like i got about half that were made with a differnent cast or something as they would not fit the others. Visually you could tell the color apart.

For the turf on the top I decided to go with Traffic Master and also used a rug pad to try to get the height to match the hitting strip. Still could not get it to match exactly. May be the foam tiles and/or the traffic master turf are not as thick as they claim to be.

Hitting Strip: Holy Grail hitting strip from GungHo

For the padding in the enclosures I ended up using moving blankets from amazon. I was about to throw out some old dog beds and had an idea that I could re purpose the memory foam in them. So I used some of this foam and rolled the moving blankets around it and so far its working out well .

For the outer frame I used 1" pipe insulation and I am aware that these wont really provide any protection. So I am open to suggestions on how I could the outer frame safer.

If any one has pointers for first time GC2 user please send em my way. I am using FSX Play right now to just get familiar with the sim.

If some can point me to ELI5 explanation for data that I am getting from GC2 that will be great. I am trying to understand and figure out how I can interpret club path from the data. Side Spin and Push/Pull data I can follow but not quite understand Spin Axis. Another thing I noticed is that Spin Axis always shows 'R' next to the degree, even when I hit a right to left shot. What I noticed is that in the ball data table that is shown after a shot it shows 11.9 L but on the shot screen it shows 11.9 R. So probably a FSX Play bug?

I have been using it quite a bit and will most likely over do it and fully expect my golf game to get worse , when ever I would go to the range frequently it would get worse.

Any and all tips are welcome .

Looks awesome... so i am just getting started in researching how to do this. What is the white screen? What is behind it?

White screen is Carl's premium impact screen and it came with the package I bought from them. Behind the enclosure of the screen? Nothing behind the screen, enclosure is about 12" from the wall behind it.

Its not quiet but not too loud either. Its only me and a dog in the house tho. Also different screens have differnent properties. For example Carl's premium screens are supposed to be noise dampening. I have read in some posts folks adding ceiling foam tiles, memory foam behind the screen etc to reduce noise.
