I will insert a sig pro softy hitting strip into it. I am looking for putting turf but don't want to spend $3.00+/sf

FYI< the softy is 2" thick. Not sure many mats are that thick.

I doubt any mat fits the thickness of a hitting mat, there's countless threads on what guys use to build the base up to level.

It's going to be really difficult to find "putting turf" for less than $3 a SF. Price/Performance has MoneyPutt by Grasstex as the generally accepted favorite, but even this is $4.00-4.50 a SF. You also need to account for shipping, which is generally $200-$300 for a role.

Where are you located? See if there is a SynLawn in your area. Go directly to them and ask to see Remnants. They can be had for $1.50 to $2.00sqft usually.

You're not going to find anything worth putting on for that price ($3.00/sq ft.). I was right around $4.00/sq foot with my Grass Tex Club Champion and I love it, more info below...

If you're going to be building up a base, and want to keep it economical, maybe look at camry carpet.

As mentioned by others, you're not likely to find putting turf for under $3/sq. foot. Especially with shipping, which can a significant expense. Unless you can find a place local that has remnants.

ETA: I was originally going to suggest synlawn turf through lowes. As I bought some for a hitting strip. And when I tested rolling a ball with a stimp meter, it rolled around 11. But it looks like they significantly increased their minimum order. Checked HD, and while not Synlawn, they do have a putting turf. And don't require a minimum. Ship to store is free. So this will be your best bet (price wise).

Another sub-$4 option a buddy of mine has "PG TOUR" by Purchase Green, clearance @ $2.59 currently. He says he called the company and it "rolls at a 9-10 Stimp depending on install."

He was set on Camry Carpet for all the reasons listed above then came across this. I'm no 5 handicap, but my ball rolls well enough to have fun!
