  • Hitting strip recommendations - CANADA

    Hey Everyone,

I'm reaching out to see if anyone has hit and compared the Carl's Divot Hitting strip and the Holy grail hitting strip by Gungho golf.

I'm in Canada and the only hitting strip I seem to find is the CCE strip sold at Par2Pro (which I haven't read good things about). I know I've seen a thread of people talking about this already but couldn't see if anyone had compared the two above.

Long-term I want to purchase a fiberbuilt but with the price and my need to have a width that accommodates lefties and righties, it just isn't in the budget.

So I'm going to build my own stance mat area with gym mats and turf and cut out a space for an insert.

I have family down in the states so I'm not worried about shipping. Just want the best bang for my buck.

    Any thoughts are appreciated!

You may want to try sinking a couple of flight decks into some stance turf to get you going. Fiberbuilt Grass Series Flight Deck with Adjustable Tee (fiberbuiltgolf.com)

Might be a cheap way of getting the FB grass series to hit off of without breaking the bank.

Oh interesting. That's a good option too. The odd shape might make it a challenge to cut well to fit in the flooring. Have you done it with this one before?

So I was fortunate to get the 10x12 combo mat with the grass series which I like quite a lot. Yes the fibers are strange but for injury prevention (my Home concern) it is unmatched IMO. And assuming you are not a super steep digger, the realism is close enough that I do not see any delta on the course IRL.

I have seem the flight deck sunk into grass area for outdoor hitting. Worked really well so I think it would work just as well sunk into a stance mat.

Before you sink too much time in that I'd try and find this to get your hands on before purchasing. I had one a few years ago and I thought it was unrealistic. The turf is equivalent to an upside-down broom and while it may be good for joints, I didn't like it to hit off of. Just my .02.

Timmy5under - that's one way of putting it (upside-down broom), but it does save your wrists... I can tell you, I've hit off other mats before in local bar sims, and came home with wrist pain for weeks.

I'm not willing to wreck my golfing arms over the fact that a mat has a bad feel to it, that's for sure... but, you're right, I recommend trying out other local sims and see... Find a ProTee sim for a Fiberbuilt hitting mat, that's what I have in place, and just last week I tested the Holy Grail, seems to be fine as well, no wrist pain...

I have a bullseye hitting strip and love it. Before that I had a fiberbuilt and a divot action. Best investment I made on a hitting strip.

I bought an Ez Tee Hybrid from a website in Canada. Various sizes and prices but great prices and fantastic quality and service. I bought a 2 x 4 for $210 delivered but you can smaller and larger. I highly recommend

I've seen individual comparisons with Bullseye and Holy Grail comparing them to other options, but not directly vs each other. I've whittled it down to these two options for my needs and can't seem to find any direct comparisons of feel, resilience over time, customer service, and actual size vs started size.

Before I plan on cutting my stance mat, can anyone speak to these two products edging out each other? Thanks!

Simple truth is you won’t get this right the first time and will experiment with hitting strips. I’m still looking and have eliminated CCE, fiberbuilt and gung-ho, although the latter is the best feeling by a long shot. It’s a personal thing, like a golf ball. I’d sell my my fiberbuilt to you if you want….about 3 months use.

I would be interested in your mat, I am debating buying the grass panel and adding it to my current mat.
