  • New Build- Input/Feedback/ Ideas Appreciated

I have researched and am sure that I still do not have a grasp of everything involved. This is first build and below is set up being considered. I feel like I have listed but with my lack of experience and interaction with simulators, I am sure that there is something that I am not considering and want to listen to others, "I wish I would have..."
    Launch Monitor Mevo+ 2023 Edition
    Software Mevo+ Pro Package
    Software Face Impact Location
    Software TGC2019
    Projector Optoma GT1090HDRx Projector
Screen and Enclosure Carl's Place Preferred
Hitting Mat Rain or Shine SwingTurf (4'x9')
Front Turf Still need to pick out
Front Turf Pad Meister X-THICK 1.5" Interlocking EVA Foam Mats (10'x10' Area)

This set up is going in my barn (paved, insulated, and conditioned; old picture I found for reference). I am planning on using the main bay of the barn (20'x40') with about 15' ceiling. Space should not be a real issue. My real use of this will be purely recreational and give us something to do on weekend nights and during the winter. I may eventually move outdoors to the range if golf is something the kids enjoy and want to pursue. Given that it will more than likely be an indoor only set up, would you consider moving to a SkyTrak or look to a different launch monitor? Given we are a mix of righty and lefties, would that impact the decision? I looked at overhead launch monitors but I really can't phantom spending 10k+ at this point in time.

The second concern I have is the projector. I feel like this meets many of my needs but mounting it worries me given the height of the ceilings. Floor mount is not an option because of the batting cages that run down the middle the barn. The hitting area for the simulator will double as the hitting area for the cages (I have turf that I will cover up the SwingTurf to prevent over wearing on it.)

Any other questions that I can answer to help with feedback is appreciated.

rhlock4 - that's one way to do it... or you could build your own enclosure which allows you greater flexibility in a space like you show... it all depends.... I build my own, see my build thread here: https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...-build-finally

Here are some things on your list:
      ---------------------------------------------
Projector (Optoma GT 1090 HDRx): https://tinyurl.com/Optomoa-GT1090HDR - or - look at Laser/4K options like:

Get care and request prescriptions from an online or in-person doctor. Now offering ongoing primary care and 24/7 telehealth.

Sound System (recommend 5.1 Surround), cheaper option I used (also less Amp/draw) is this one (Vizio): https://tinyurl.com/Vizio51SurroundBar - or - look at higher end sound system like:

Screen/Enclosure (Carl's Place), I did this all myself with Wire, Eyehooks and Commando Cloth.

Screen I purchased 'seconds' from Paul (OneStopSimShop), here: https://tinyurl.com/screen-801-3layer-seconds
-if you do this, you'll need a Grommet tool - this one: https://tinyurl.com/GrommetTool-38inch
      -Commando Cloth: https://tinyurl.com/chicagocanvas-commandocloth
      -and Apple lightning adapter: https://tinyurl.com/apple-lightning-hdmi

Hitting Mat (Rain or Shine Swing Turf 4'x9').. I picked up this instead: https://tinyurl.com/perfectreaction-5x5golfmat
and added a drop in hitting strip, like this: https://tinyurl.com/HolyGrail-HitStrip12x30 or FiberBuilt, or SIG Softy, all depends on how much wrist protection you want - you will notice it.
or you could go with a Dual Turf: https://tinyurl.com/Dual-Turf-TourGolf-HittingMat
      or Tri-Turf: https://tinyurl.com/Tri-Turf-Master-TourGolf-Mat

Front Turf - I bought a 10'x15' piece of Grass-Tex Club Champion for about $800 with padding, from a local carpet store that stocked Turf. You can see it in my thread above... it's working great and showing little wear after a year.

Meister X-THICK 1.5" EVA Foam Mats: https://tinyurl.com/Meister-XThick-1-5-FoamGymMat I used much less dense 1/2 inch mats like this:

I'm sure I'm forgetting some things - they are all listed on my Thread (link above).

      Good luck!
