  • Behind Impact Screen?

    Whats up GSF,

Just throwing a question out there about what you guys have behind your impact screens. Do you guys have anything back there? Any reccomendations? Thanks in advance!

18" of air. Experiments with anything else proved to be too "bouncy"

I've got mine attached to walls & ceilings fixtures 18" away from the back wall, and the fixtures are covered in front with foam.

My old impact screen. No issues with bounceback or noise that i've noticed vs just screen itself.

I'm wondering the same thing. Finishing my enclosure with Poly Spacer material with plenty of room behind it. Was considering hanging a piece of old heavy black truck tarp behind the screen for extra durability for the screen but don't want to create more problems than it solves. The Poly Spacer screen isn't supposed to NEED any backing just thinking long term. Old screen sounds like a good idea except this is my first build.

I have nothing and only 8" behind mine! See that here:
Hi Everyone, I'm starting this post as a way to keep myself accountable. The tasks are huge, but not insurmountable as I'm having to do all my build work by myself. Contractors are either non-existent in this post-pandemic marketplace, or they have so much work they are 3 months out! I'll be posting up here as I make

I have plenty of things I could hang behind it, but I haven't needed to. I might hang these things to reduce noise, bounceback is very minimal (if you get a high quality screen):

Had that same thought and believed that didn’t need anything, I do have a good impact screen, but could not get the 18” or more inches behind due to space constraints, luckily a friend of mine works for a pool company that was throwing out a brand new pool cover, the mesh kind that allow water to filter thru but no debris.
I was also at the time thinking about trampoline netting. Not the actual trampoline but the safety netting that goes around it but the pool cover came thru and works very nice. Good luck

I added a memory foam mattress, primarily to protect my surround sound speakers, and then when I got a good deal on a new impact screen that is also now behind my current impact screen so that it’s not folded up and getting permanent creases. I think either on their own would work well, but as other people have said, just clear space also seems to work!
