    Need Help Determining Enclosure Size

    This is my first build. I just purchased a SIG12 (9'x11'10") premium screen. I'm going to build my own enclosure using 1" EMT conduit.
    Is there a general rule or standard as to the distance from the edge of screen (sides, top, and bottom) to the EMT conduit?

      I am unaware of a standard distance. For me it was the length of the tarp clip + bungee ball + eye screw (wood frame). I also have a 20’ screen and 18’ between vertical members, so the extra rolls up for future rotation.

          4 to 6" seems to be the generally accepted minimum and / or sweet spot. Longer is fine - just takes up more space. Shorter tends to increase bounce-back.

          If you are in the planning phase and you have the room, I would say plan 5-6" and go from there.

              I allowed 6" on each side on recommendations and it's worked out well but I will say there are a couple of issues, both good and bad. On one hand, allowing more space on each side allows you to adjust with bungee's using different lengths, adjustment is a good thing. The problem is that the more you allow for adjustment (good thing), the more area or space you have to worry about concealing/protecting (bad thing). Because I went 6" on each side I had to order extra large protectors to cover that area which, you guessed it, cost more money. If I had to do it over again I would go 4" on each side.

                  This was my experience as well. I started with too much gap and then trimmed my cage a bit to reduce to align with corner padding. Easy to do with DIY setup, but was some trial and error. Obviously you don't want to start too small, but 6" on BOTH sides seems way too much to me.

                  Timely post, my screen and Emt brackets arrive next week. I was wondering the same thing.

                      Thanks for the help! I'll probably go with 4" on the sides.
                      Since my screen is 9' and I have a 10' ceiling, I'll likely need to go with less a gap on the top and bottom.

                      What is the consensus of securing the bottom vs letting it hang vs weighting it down?
