    Enclosure Height?

I am getting ready to build my DIY Enclosure. I had a few questions. It's going in my garage and I have a ceiling height of 10 feet. My screen size is 12x10. I was thinking about hanging the screen from a 2x4 connected to the ceiling joist. Just so it would no sag in the middle with it being 12 feet wide. I think my viewing height is something like 9'3" for a 4:3 aspect ratio. Question no. 1, how high should the enclosure be? Should it go all the way to the ceiling? Should it just go a few inches above the viewing area? Leaving about 6 inches to ceiling? Question no. 2. Do you think I it will be ok to hang screen from Ceiling? This is all new to me, so any help would be appreciated!

So you just going to “enclose” the sides and not the top? Not sure how you would build an enclosure and still hang the screen on the ceiling based on what you’re describing

I was going to come down below the ceiling with the screen about 6 inches with bungee cords. But I guess you are right, I would have to figure out some way to wrap the top part of the enclosure over the top of the screen. I guess I am asking how much room do I need to leave between top on Enclosure and ceiling?

I would hang the screen with 1" emt conduit, not 2 x 4. Did you buying a hanging screen with sleeve? what are you doing about top andside protection?

No, I bought a RAW impact screen from Bullseye golf. I am going to use heavy duty tarp clips and bungees to secure it. I planned on making a 3 or 4 foot box around the front and buying thick black fabric to wrap it with. I was only going to use the wood for the impact screen frame. Then use PVC for the Box. Got Black Curtains that will also hang from ceiling on each side that will come out 8 feet. Plan on putting a net/tarp on top also. Going to wrap wood with some sort of padding. Going to use horse stall mats on the floor along with Harbor Freight 1/2 foam tiles. I am covering the floor with Menards fake turf. I am leaving one horse stall mat uncovered at the hitting area to stand on and putting a Bullseye hitting strip in it. Using an Old Skytrak. I will also have gym pads on the right side walls of garage. Going to use baby bedrail pads on the inside around screen, they are wedge shaped. I am sure black gorilla tape will be used in abundance also. Just was not sure how close to build the enclosure to ceiling.
