I just bought a new house in South Carolina, and am hoping to get some feedback/suggestions for my golf sim plan.
The basement in our new house has a huge room in the basement with a very tall ceiling (Part of the reason we bought the house). 😊 Nothing has been “Built” yet, just in the design phase.
At our old house in WI, I did have a Mevo+ with pro package, using an iPAD, hitting into a homemade 10’x10’ net, no screen. So I plan to bring the mevo+ to this build.
I’ve attached a rough drawing of the room above, and am looking for feedback on the following areas:
Based on the space, how far back should I move the platform from the screen (Using a Mevo+, so assume more it better)
If I stretch back to get 13’+ from ball to screen, I assume shots could go above the enclosure. Would an EMT framed net be able to “attach” to the front top of the enclosure and run to that beam to catch them?
Obviously, the projector would need to be on a down rod to be behind/below that netting section. How low should the projector be to get under the enclosure “Ceiling” with the tall room ceiling?
What other functionality/safety considerations should I be making?
Suggestions for which enclosure/options, PC, Projector to buy based on the space? (Assuming Mevo+/GSPro)
General thoughts? It’s a massive space, suggestions to best utilize it?
Here is what I have so far:
Mevo+ with Pro Package
3” high hitting platform with turf hitting strip, 4’ wide extension to make flat 7-8’ section for mevo to ball. No extension out front because I don’t putt on the sim.
IPad
Here is what I plan on buying:
Screen/Enclosure
Projector
PC
GSPro
I also have this stuff left over from my “old” build for DIY tweaks as needed:
Leftover golf netting (tons of it)
5 9-10’ sections of 1” EMT with pipe insulation foam for padding
