First time poster. I'm finalizing my sim build and have some questions on flooring under the sim. The room it is going in will, as of now, have carpet down. I have been intending to buy the sig pro softy 4x10 mat but having second thought putting down a mat onto carpet. Does anyone have any advice or experience of sim on top of a carpet? Should I consider the gym tiles/turf/cutting in a hitting strip route instead?
Sim on top of carpet?

As long as you can ensure the mat doesn't slide around on the carpet you will be o.k.
The important thing is that your launch monitor doesn't change position relative to your hitting area. If it does you will be forever chasing why your shots are changing direction from your last sim session or even you last shot if the relative positions move enough.
It's hard enough to hit straight shots without your sim adding additional variability.

I posted on here yesterday about just that, to a UK based guy (I am also UK based). I bought a reasonably piled green carpet for my whole area, and fitted it with good underlay I already had. My mat sits on top of that with a healthy dose of double sided sticky tape to keep it in place. Works fine.
