  • Inexpensive indoor net options

I recently put together my first mini-build (if you can call it that), consisting of a hitting mat, a 7.5' net (GoSports), and an MLM2Pro connecting to a tablet. Already, I am thinking that this net is not going to work long-term in my garage, as I still park my car in the garage (yes, inside the net, with inches to spare, and the net occasionally getting snagged on a fender).

So I'm considering alternative net options. Note that I'm not looking for an impact screen at this point, only a net. I saw the recommendations for the METechs retractable screen system, which is interesting. But I'm wondering if I even need that. What about some sort of curtain-like net, grommetted and attached to a curtain rod (or EMT, or a wire) that is hanging from the ceiling? When not in use, the curtain can be pulled over to the side and stored along the wall so it doesn't interfere with parking the car. When it's pulled out, the corners could be clipped onto hooks bolted into the ground (or some sort of weight), to give the net some tension so I don't hit the back wall of the garage.

Is there any reason that this wouldn't work?

I bought this and it works well. I have it tied with rope into eyebolts that are in the drywall with anchors in my garage.

Spornia makes a really good net and seems to be easy to collapse down when not in use.

Your idea definitely will work as I've done that in one of my earlier setups. I used it with both a net initially and then onto PR20 from west coast netting, which is a very good impact screen, but not great on image quality. I used metal cable with turnbuckles to tension the wire and then just slid the net/screen in and out as needed.
