  • New build - want some opinions!

Hi folks, new to the forum and it's my first build. A long winter is ahead of me and I want to stay busy

I've started my build in my garage. The room is 14' wide, the height is 11.5' and the depth is 25'.

I bought last week a Mevo+ and a W 11'10" x H 8'2" x D 4'11" simulator enclosure (with impact screen). I would like to play E6 in 4K (included with the Mevo+) and also GSPro in 4K. For the laptop, I'm considering a Intel Core i9, 32GB of RAM and a RTX 4070 graphics card in it (more specifically the Dell XPS 15 with those specs). I think it's enough for both E6 and GSPro in 4K but I would like to get your opinion on this.

For the projector, I would like to go with the BENQ TK700 or TK700STI (short throw).

What do you guys think about either of these projector? Is it better to get and mount on the ceiling the TK700STI (like 5-6 feet away) closer to the screen or get and mount on the ceiling TK700 about 15 feet away?

Since I'll likely be standing about 8-10 feet from the screen, won't I cause shadow on the screen with the TK700?

    Thanks!

I have the tk850 hanging on the ceiling from 9.5'. Ball position is 10' feet back. I'm 6' tall. No shadow unless I walk up to screen.

What I did to check before components were purchased/arrived was to tape the floor where the screen goes. Tape floor where you intend to place ball tee position. Mark ceiling where you think projector will hang. Then I ran a string from projector position to bottom of screen. Then I stood in the teeing location to see where my head was in relation to string. You can alternatively mock it up in 2D in an Excel spreadsheet using cells as a grid.

Highly recommend you mock it up for yourself.
